The Return of the Original Owner

Before the Christmas holiday ended, Kyle and Kanna stayed at Nicolas's manor the entire time.

During that period, Kanna was exactly like Kyle when he had first come here. Once she entered the library, she could hardly tear herself away, wishing she could stay there from morning until night.

Only at mealtimes did she come out for a little while at Perennelle's insistence, and even then, never for more than an hour.

As for Kyle, things were much simpler. He wandered around the manor, incidentally wreaking havoc on whatever little alchemical contraptions caught his interest.

More precisely, he took them apart and put them back together again. Over two weeks, Kyle dismantled no fewer than eighty, if not a hundred, objects, and his scenes of mischief covered every corner of the manor.

From the garden to the attic, and even the rooms that could be opened, Kyle's busy figure had appeared everywhere.

Of course, Kyle restored most of those alchemical items to their original state afterward, with only a small number of exceptions.

For instance, the room on the second floor used for watching operas developed a minor malfunction on the ninth day. If anyone went in to watch an opera, they would notice that a corner on the left side of the room flickered from time to time, like a light bulb with a loose connection.

Fortunately, no one other than Kyle went inside during the following days.

And so it continued until the last day of the holiday.

Early that morning, Kyle and Kanna went out into the garden, preparing to take the Thestral carriage back to Hogwarts.

"How rare."

Nicolas escorted them to the garden, watching with a cheerful smile as they harnessed the carriage to the Thestrals.
