Although it was already very late, at the professors' request, everyone left their common rooms and gathered in the Great Hall.
They clustered together, chattering away about what had just happened.
Though they had remained in their common rooms as instructed and had not seen what was happening in the castle with their own eyes, they had still heard the commotion.
