The Hit Wizard and Hagrid
Fertilizing the Devil's Snare was almost the most difficult lesson in the first-year Herbology Class.
Kyle found it easy simply because he had experience in this area. Don't forget, he had been taking care of Biting Cabbage for months.
The Biting Cabbage with its fangs is far more dangerous than the Devil's Snare that only knows how to bind people. If you make a slight mistake, Kyle might have to go to the Hospital Wing to drink Skele-Gro... or some other Potions.
After a period of hellish difficulty, going back to easy dungeons is naturally a breeze.
However, the others had no experience in this area, and when they first encountered the Devil's Snare, they were all tormented by the tendrils, screaming and yelling.
Some people panicked as soon as they got tangled in the tendrils, completely forgetting Professor Sprout's instructions, and began to struggle instinctively.
If it weren't for Professor Sprout being there, they probably would have been wrapped up like dumplings by now.
Kyle, who was standing nearby, was also busy. When Professor Sprout was too busy, he stepped forward and helped the young wizards who were entangled to break free from the Devil's Snare.
His action earned him another ten points from Professor Sprout Hufflepuff.
"Thank you, Kyle."
Ryan shook his arm, which was aching from being squeezed, and said, "When I saw you doing it before, I thought it was a simple thing, but I didn't expect it to be so difficult... I can't even get close to it."
Don't be discouraged...
Kyle patted him on the shoulder and said, "Just be careful not to touch those tendrils."
I'll try my best.
Ryan sighed and said, "It's a pity Professor Sprout doesn't allow the use of the Wand-Lighting Charm, otherwise it would have been much simpler."
"You're overthinking it," Kyle said, gently shaking his head.
After using the Wand-Lighting Charm, this tiny Devil's Snare will probably open up immediately, making this lesson pointless.
If it's just about digging a hole and adding some fertilizer, even a three-year-old could do it perfectly well. Why take up a whole class period to learn it?
"I was just saying."
Ryan changed direction and tried reaching out again.
At this moment, Kyle also looked away.
The others performed similarly to Ryan, but there were exceptions.
Kanna successfully completed the task, becoming the second young wizard to fertilize the Devil's Snare. Although her movements were not as skillful as Kyle's and she paused many times, she did a pretty good job overall and passed it in one go.
There was also Gryffindor's Cormac McLaggen, but he was slower, finishing only halfway through his lesson.
After him, the Devil's Snare seemed to get tired, and its tendrils moved much more slowly than before, giving the young wizards more opportunities.
By the time class ended, more than half of the students had finished fertilizing the Devil's Snare, but they were all exhausted and sweating profusely, wishing they could immediately return to the castle for a shower.
Professor Sprout had them line up in two rows, and only after everyone was in position did she slowly open the greenhouse door.
Sunlight instantly filled the entire greenhouse, and the Devil's Snare placed in the middle seemed to have been greatly stimulated, instantly freezing in place.
Kyle was deliberately at the back of the line, suddenly had a bright idea. When Professor Sprout wasn't looking, he quickly pulled out a small knife that he had prepared beforehand, swiftly cut off a small section of root, and stuffed it into his pocket.
Sunlight has a significant effect on the Devil's Snare; even if someone were to cut it, it would remain completely unaffected.
Afterwards Kyle acted as if nothing had happened, leaving the greenhouse with the others, and even casually greeting Professor Sprout as they passed by.
Goodbye, Professor.
"Goodbye, Kyle." Professor Sprout waved with a smile. "I remember you like plants. Would you be interested in growing a Puffapod?"
It can be divided by your next class."
"I would be happy to, Professor."
What an unexpected bonus... Kyle was even happier.
After bidding farewell to Professor Sprout, he hurried toward the castle.
The Puffapod can wait; Kyle plans to take the contents of his pocket to the Room of Requirement on the Seventh Floor first.
Devil's Snare is a very resilient plant. As long as the root section is planted in the soil in time, it can survive and grow into a complete Devil's Snare.
As we were walking, a commotion suddenly came from not far away.
Kyle looked up and saw a lot of people running towards Hagrid's cabin, including the young wizard who had just been in Herbology Class with him.
"What's going on? Has Hagrid's affair with the Three-headed Dog been discovered?"
Kyle frowned and moved closer as well.
Things went pretty much as he expected; Hagrid's affair with the Three-headed Dog was indeed discovered, and people even came knocking on his door.
Three Ministry of Magic members Hit Wizard stood at the door of the cabin, pointing their wands at Hagrid rudely.
"We received a report that you purchased a Fantastic Beasts of unknown origin in September."
One of the Hit Wizard said, "Hand it over, and then come back to the Ministry of Magic with us."
"I don't!"
Hagrid blushed and said, "I only bought some medicine to get rid of flesh-eating slugs that time!"
The Hit Wizard persisted, saying, "But someone saw you trading Fantastic Beasts."
"That's nonsense!"
Hagrid said somewhat flusteredly, "Besides, you've already checked my room, haven't you? It's just me and Fang here!"
"Whether it's true or not isn't up to you to decide. We can't just listen to your side of the story." The man looked at Hagrid's expression, narrowed his eyes, and said, "If you are truly innocent, then the Ministry of Magic will naturally clear your name... What do you have to worry about?"
Or are you hiding something and afraid to come back to the Ministry of Magic with us?
His aggressive demeanor infuriated the young wizards around him.
Although they weren't familiar with Hagrid, they remembered that when they first enrolled, it was this big guy who led them from the train station into the castle.
The students... especially the freshmen, didn't care about the Ministry of Magic. They only knew that Hagrid was one of their own, so naturally they stood on his side.
A chorus of boos and shouts erupted around them, urging them to leave Hogwarts immediately.
Some clever young wizards, knowing they couldn't do anything to the Ministry of Magic, quickly ran towards the castle to get reinforcements.
The Hit Wizard noticed what was happening, and after exchanging a glance, the three of them simultaneously raised their wands, seemingly intending to forcibly take Hagrid away.
Just as Kyle was about to stop them, someone stepped forward before he could.
"Don't put it so elegantly."
Professor Oren appeared behind the three Hit Wizard without them noticing, and said with a disdainful look, "You're here because you've only heard one side of the story, aren't you?"
