Background
Tang San is Tang Hao's son and a direct descendant of the Clear Sky Sect. His mother was a Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor who had taken human form; Tang Hao later tells him that Martial Soul Hall was responsible for her death and the Clear Sky Sect's decline. 109 251
As a child in Holy Soul Village, Tang San immediately senses danger from Lu Yu despite their similar age, beginning their long rivalry. 2 He becomes Grandmaster's apprentice at Tang Hao's instruction, though he initially considers Grandmaster a failure and accepts the arrangement chiefly for theoretical knowledge and help with his early Soul Rings. 8 9
Tang San possesses Twin Martial Souls, but his father warns that incompatible Soul Ring attributes can cause a fatal martial-soul backlash. He preserves his relationship with Grandmaster because Grandmaster claims to know how to resolve this flaw. 109
Appearance
Following his Blue Silver Emperor awakening, Tang San's appearance and aura become markedly more refined. 175
- His black hair changes to dark blue. 175
- His physique becomes more balanced as his body is reshaped by the awakening. 175
- His Blue Silver Grass becomes translucent sapphire-blue with golden veins running through each blade. 175
- His awakened blue-gold aura causes nearby Blue Silver Grass to grow and transform. 175
Personality
Tang San is intensely competitive and struggles to accept defeat, particularly at Lu Yu's hands. Repeated losses drive him to challenge Lu Yu again and again, learn by observing his opponents, and seek any advantage that might close the gap. 10 14 21
He is capable of patience when revenge would be premature. After Tang Hao's death, Tang San suppresses his killing intent toward Martial Soul Hall and resolves to cultivate until he has the strength to act. 171 172
His pursuit of strength also makes him calculating and ruthless. He helps manipulate Titan into supporting him, uses his talent and weapons to secure Bai He's alliance, and later tortures Grandmaster after learning of his betrayal. 190 191 252 253
