Outer and Inner Sects

The Azure Sky Sect is divided into an outer sect and an inner sect. The outer sect serves as the entry level; disciples who advance fastest in the annual selection may be promoted into the inner sect as full Azure Sky disciples 45.

Its outer-sect Martial Practice Field organizes disciples by cultivation level, including Bright Strength, Dark Strength, and Transformation Strength groups led by instruction deacons 55.

Inner Sect Peaks

History

The Azure Sky Sect is the dominant martial force of Cloud Ridge Prefecture, operating from Azure Sky Mountain east of the prefecture city. Its broad territory, numerous disciples, outer-sect recruitment system, and six-peak inner sect demonstrate a foundation far beyond that of ordinary martial organizations 45 101.

Despite its local influence, the sect is subordinate to the Lin Prefecture Upper Sect. It must remit most of its taxes upward and is described as politically insignificant beside the Upper Sect, which dominates the wider prefecture 127.

During the search for the Former Dynasty Ruins at Tai'an Mountain, the Sect Master orders every peak to dispatch two Core Formation Realm martial artists to protect outer disciples and investigate the Seven Kill Cult’s activities 94. The Azure Sky Sect initially clashes with the Cold Sword Sect over the area, but Hua Qingshui helps prevent open conflict and both sides search the ruins together 104.

The sect later suffers a major invasion by the Seven Kill Cult. Two Innate martial artists infiltrate Azure Sky Mountain, while black-robed attackers strike multiple inner peaks. Azure Sky Hall is destroyed, Pei Yunchuan is gravely injured, and Luo Song burns his life essence to resist an Innate enemy 189 195 199. The sect survives through the combined efforts of its leadership and disciples, though Golden Star Peak Master Lu Xiao abandons his post and flees 204.

In recognition of this defense, the Lin Prefecture Upper Sect grants the Azure Sky Sect a three-year tax exemption and a fifty-person cultivation quota on Heavenly Cloud Peak’s East Peak 205. Jiang Ye and Liu Qingyu lead the delegation, which establishes itself on East Peak despite immediate harassment from the Red Flame Sect 206 220.

The Azure Sky Sect’s position rises sharply after it claims all six wisps of Innate Qi on Heavenly Cloud Peak. Liu Qingyu subsequently reaches the Innate Realm, and Jiang Ye’s later breakthrough allows the sect to pass the Upper Sect’s assessment and secure its future there 245 275 294.
