Background / History

Before entering the University, Wang Ning worked as a professional assassin, describing his former routine as killing for payment, spending the money, and killing again. He regarded the University as a chance to kill freely while acquiring new abilities and increasing his strength. 19

He initially concealed the full extent of his abilities from Class 1204. While he openly disclosed Low-Profile Way, he kept Black Shadow secret and used it to observe battles from hiding. During one such operation, he assassinated the mercenary Blue Whale and obtained the Photo of Longing. Unable to equip the item because it required “love in their hearts,” he threw it into a fire. 5 19

Wang Ning judged his classmates according to usefulness and potential. He considered recruiting Li Shuangmu and Zeng Fei while dismissing Yin Kuang as expendable, and he ultimately attempted to undermine Class 1204 from within. He saved Tang Zhaotian, then offered him 1,500 Study Points to kill Li Shuangmu’s group. 19 64

His attempt to leave Class 1204 escalated into open conflict at Fate Spa, where he attacked Tang Rouyu and Ouyang Mu. Li Shuangmu, Bai Lu, and Tang Rouyu countered him; Wang Ning was later confronted by Yin Kuang and Li Shuangmu, who overcame his T-Telekinesis through coordinated attacks. 76 78 Despite this history—and despite having died once by the time of the class’s reorganization—Li Shuangmu recruited him into the Special Honor Class for his strength. 106

Thereafter, Wang Ning remained an unreliable but valuable classmate. He exchanged intelligence with Yin Kuang, repeatedly pursued independent assassination work, and sometimes aided the group when it served his interests. In Narnia, he unsuccessfully attempted to assassinate the White Witch, then sold Yin Kuang critical intelligence about her plans for 20,000 Study Points and a weapon. 376

During the Journey to the West scenario, Wang Ning engineered a confrontation between Yin Kuang and Young Master White Dragon by taking the latter’s two lovers hostage. Although framed as revenge, his demand that the dragons fight Yin Kuang one at a time gave the group time to recover and prevented the enemies from overwhelming them together. 693 694

Later, Wang Ning operated in the conflict between Eastern Victory and Western God. Li Shuangmu used his T-Virus data to create a hundred virus-enhanced soldiers and assigned him assassination missions, including attempts against Chihuahua. Wang Ning eventually brought news of that failure to Yin Kuang and considered Yin Kuang’s proposal that he assassinate Dong Zhuo instead. 1107 1118
