Su Feng won the Ninth Division captaincy, imposed accountability on the division and Soul Society, and recruited Rangiku Matsumoto and Nanao Ise. After Kaname Tosen challenged his authority, Su Feng defeated him with Storm Howl, leaving the division afraid of and respectful toward its new captain.

• Su Feng defeated Kaname Tosen in the captain assessment and became the Ninth Division's captain.
• Su Feng arrested Ikkaku Madarame and several Eleventh Division soldiers, then sentenced Ikkaku to three months in prison.
• Su Feng recruited Rangiku Matsumoto as his lieutenant and personal secretary, and Aizen resolved to watch his unexpected rise.

Su Feng led the Ninth Division through arrests in Inuzuri and uncovered a noble clan’s attempt to seize Mimihagi’s power in Nigoku. After killing a powerful Adjuchas born from the upheaval, he joined Retsu Unohana for a Kendo duel that left her inviting him to train again.

• Su Feng arrested Arisugawa Ryo and the Arisugawa Clan for monopolizing Inuzuri’s water and gathering spiritually gifted souls, then defended his actions to Yamamoto Genryusai.
• Su Feng investigated the Ryūdōji Clan’s plea for help and discovered the Ukitake Clan sacrificing captives to Mimihagi in Nigoku District.
• Jushiro Ukitake fought his elder brother, who sought Mimihagi’s power, and entrusted him to Su Feng after both were gravely weakened.
• Su Feng stripped away Jushiro Ukitake’s elder brother’s Soul King power and killed him, then ordered the captured accomplices sent for judgment.
• An Adjuchas consumed the remains of Mimihagi’s shrine and attacked Su Feng, rapidly regenerating and growing stronger as Shinigami reinforcements headed to Nigoku.
• Su Feng killed the Adjuchas with Storm Howl and Kendo while Aizen Sosuke and Gin Ichimaru watched, then arranged for the Fourth Division to examine its corpse.

Su Feng pursued research and political battles before joining the Tsunayashiro expedition against the Rebel Army, where he killed Tokinada and faced a Vasto Lorde. After the fighting, he dealt with the clan’s fallout, helped Seinosuke Yamada and Kaname Tosen, and advanced his Kendo under Retsu Unohana.

• Su Feng arranged for Seinosuke Yamada to study the Adjuchas, whose unusual nature led Seinosuke to suspect Kisuke Urahara’s involvement and offer to research Reverse Healing Kido.
• Su Feng sentenced the surviving Arisugawa Clan conspirators to Sōgō Jigoku, then faced Central 46’s objections and watched the fourteen criminals executed by Kōkōō.
• Su Feng joined the Tsunayashiro expedition against the Rebel Army, where Tokinada Tsunayashiro secretly tried to kill him and revealed his ambition to become the supreme being.
• Su Feng defeated and beheaded Tokinada, killed the surviving Tokie Tsunayashiro, and then battled Hollows emerging from a Garganta, including Szayelaporro Granz.
• Szayelaporro escaped through a Negación after Su Feng fought him, and Su Feng later exposed Tsunayashiro Akizuki’s role in allowing Tokinada to join the expedition.

Su Feng investigated disappearances in North Rukongai, oversaw Gin Ichimaru’s captain examination, and helped assess Mayuri Kurotsuchi’s suitability for Squad 12. After Su Feng defeated and imprisoned Mayuri, materialized Zanpakuto began fleeing across Soul Society, and Yamamoto called the captains together to investigate.

• Retsu Unohana brought Su Feng to the Women's Shinigami Association meeting, where she proposed Kendo ranks and approved him as vice president despite Byakuya Kuchiki’s objection.
• Su Feng and Nanao Ise investigated disappearances in North Rukongai, where Takehara Kazuhiro attacked them and revealed his allegiance to the Rebel Army.
• Su Feng killed Takehara Kazuhiro after he unleashed his Bankai, then reported the incident with Aizen and Nanao Ise to Yamamoto Genryusai.
• Su Feng oversaw Gin Ichimaru’s captain examination, and the captains later debated Mayuri Kurotsuchi’s suitability for Squad 12 before Yamamoto assigned Su Feng and Soi Fon to handle the case.
