The Limits of Imagination × The End of Nen Ability
He was speechless for a moment.
Living things are different from machines; they are incredibly diverse...
Roy had to admit that to become the Zoldyck, and to stand out among so many butlers, succeeding the veteran Tsubone as the next Zoldyck in the Zoldyck family, Gotoh's talent, compared to the general public, was arguably one in a million, or even one in a hundred thousand. But to compare him to a certain universally acknowledged "Strongest Human"... Gotoh to Netero is like a firefly to the sun; the difference in talent is almost immeasurable to the naked eye.
"What, you think it's impossible?"
Roy remained silent.
The world is materialistic, while thought is idealistic, but regardless of whether it is "materialistic" or "idealistic," it must ultimately speak based on objective facts.
"I can't imagine him beating Netero," the Sun-Earring Boy said after a moment.
Even someone as strong as Meruem in the original story ultimately met his demise, although Netero benefited from... having "The Poor Man's Rose" implanted in his heart.
Meruem is, after all, a B+ rank powerhouse, only a hair's breadth away from A rank or what Maha calls a "Demigod." In other words... by the time Gotoh is able to defeat Netero, whether he knows or not will have already lost all meaning...
"Because it's unimaginable, that's why we must dare to imagine..." Maha, with his back to the dimly lit room, leaned against the windowpane, facing the vibrant garden outside, a scene of spring warmth, blooming flowers, and burgeoning life, and murmured deeply, "What is God?"
"It's a totem,"
"It's Faith,"
"It is a symbol in people's minds that 'the impossible can be made possible',"
"Roy," the old man's weathered eyes, filled with the marks of time, gazed down at the boy, and his words, delivered in a whispered, Thunder, struck the Sun-Earring Boy's ears, sending chills down his spine. "If I were you, if I said there was light, the world must have light; if I said the Gotoh could win, it could win. My mouth is both the ruler and the rule, the ultimate boundary of [imagination]!"
Thunder resounded, penetrating the crown of one's head...
Roy jolted awake, as if the clouds had parted to reveal the sun. He stared blankly at Maha, his mouth slightly agape, uttering heavy "ho~ho" sounds with each breath.
Yes, Great-Grandpa was right. "To think what others dare not think, to do what others cannot do, that is superhuman... that is godhood..." If I, as his master, believe he cannot, then... he is destined never to defeat Netero in this lifetime, and then..."That would be my dereliction of duty as his master."
With a sudden realization, Roy closed his mouth, twitched his nostrils, and exhaled a long stream of gas. The Sun-Earring Boy bowed deeply and sincerely said to Maha, "Great-Grandpa, it was I who was blocked."
Maha remained silent, only glancing eastward as the sun rose, growing increasingly hot and dazzling, almost blinding. Leaning against the window, he said, "You've read your grandfather Jager's notes too. In the end, the [Path of Faith] relies on Believer... If you become strong alone but cannot bring tangible benefits to your Believer, how can you expect them to genuinely offer their ' Nen Qi ' for you to receive?"
"I understand." Roy straightened up, took a deep breath, and said, "Since Great-Grandpa has spoken, then I'll boldly imagine what it would be like if one day, Gotoh could even defeat you."
The Sun-Earring Boy smiled, revealing two rows of white teeth. "By then, it won't be too far off when I hunt gods and officially embark on the path of the Hunter."
Maha:"
A huge question mark seemed to appear on his bald forehead as he stared at Roy with utter confusion... He almost thought he'd misheard! "That kid Gotoh defeated me..."
"You brat, you have quite the appetite!" The old man glared angrily.
Roy, unfazed, laughed heartily, brushed past Maha on the shoulder, and headed straight for his bedroom. The footsteps faded into the distance. The Sun-Earring Boy, draped in a sun -Sun Halo Cloak with light, turned his back to the old man and laughed heartily, "Great-Grandpa, you flatter me. It's all thanks to you who taught me."
After turning the corner, it disappeared...
Youyou breeze arose, carrying with it the rising heat of summer.
A single tuft of hair on Maha's bald head swayed in the wind as he stared blankly at the Sun-Earring Boy as he walked away. His thoughts drifted, and he seemed to see Jager from back then—one a "Conjuration," the other also a "Conjuration," the difference being... one more "neurotic" than the other, yet both were wildly imaginative, both daring and bold... kids!
White smoke billowed, and as the footsteps completely faded away, the ethereal woman emerged through Maha's Nen Qi. She silently stayed by the old man's side, her gaze lingering on the departing Sun-Earring Boy through the layers of walls. She murmured absently, "Maha, I miss Jager. Roy... he really looks just like him."
Maha remained silent, but he held his wife tightly around the waist and said gently, "You will see, I promise you, you will see the day he is alive and well."
Betty Zoldyck a soft "hmm," resting her head on Maha's shoulder, silently enjoying the tranquility. Her gaze followed Roy into the distance, and in the blink of an eye, she arrived at his bedroom.
"Young Master,"
"Gurgle, gurgle..." The wheel of the dining car rumbled on the stone floor. Gotoh had prepared the meal and seemed to have been waiting at the door for a while. She looked up and spotted Roy.
The young butler bowed slightly, then looked up and met Roy's burning, torch-like eyes. He was taken aback for a moment, then awkwardly adjusted his glasses and coughed lightly, saying, "Because of the young Young Master's birth, the kitchen prepared extra nourishing foods. I served the Young Master a bowl as well; please drink it while it's hot."
The food cart entered the room.
Gotoh lifted the lid of the bowl, revealing a bowl of fragrant and sweet bird's nest porridge. The porridge was translucent and infused with the aroma of rice and bird's nest; clearly, the kitchen had put in a lot of effort.
"I guess I benefited from Killua Zoldyck's success..."
Roy withdrew his gaze, nodded, pulled up a chair and sat down. He casually scooped up a spoonful of bird's nest porridge, offered a brief critique, and said nonchalantly, "Gotoh, ah..."
"Young Master, please speak."
"How long have you been following me?"
"Ten years, eight months, and twenty-one days," Gotoh blurted out without hesitation, "When Holl was around, I served as your apprentice butler."
The young butler smiled and said, "The Young Master probably doesn't remember anything from that time, so he wouldn't remember me."
Holl, also known as Tsubone's son, has been sent by his father to oversee the intelligence department... Roy gave a subtle "hmm," placed his spoon on the edge of the table, and then...
Smiling, he looked at Gotoh and said, "It's been so long, and I haven't given you a formal task yet. You won't blame me, will you?"
How could I dare to say I'm blaming anyone?
Gotoh immediately bent down, placed her right hand on her chest, and said sincerely, "I've always known that Young Master is worried about me."
The young butler straightened his back again, speaking with certainty and loud voice, "Please rest assured, Young Master, if you have any tasks, please just give the order. I want Young Master to witness my growth!"
Nen Artifact [Infinite Pistol], having mastered "Water Breathing" and "Total Concentration; Constant Focus," and recently making progress in advanced application techniques, successfully mastering [Circle] and [Flow]... Gotoh, confident and exuding extraordinary self-assurance, assured Roy. Roy gave him an approving look and generously praised, "Good!"
"You went and did Netero,"
"We don't necessarily need to kill him, just defeat him."
