Ch. 401Radiant Saint Dragon
Chapter Summary
Key plot points and events
- Tang San and Ning Chengjiu abandon their poison- and control-based Myriad-Faced Spider Soul Prison, recognizing that Spirit Hall’s light- and strength-aligned Martial Souls are especially effective against their Spider powers.
- Instead, both teams combine their abilities in Violence Amid Brilliance: Seven Treasures Heaven-Shaking Hammer. The Clear Sky Hammer forms its haft, while a Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda becomes its head. All seven Shrek teammates feed it Soul Power, lighting its seven levels and amplifying it to an enormous, Soul Sage-level force.
- Spirit Hall counters with Radiant Saint Dragon, a fusion of Yu Xiaozhu’s Golden Sacred Dragon and Tian Ling’s Golden Crocodile King. Its golden armor, immense vitality, and platinum lightning allow it to brace against the hammer.
- Meanwhile, Hu Liena and Xie Yue spread the red mist of Demon Charm, while Qian Renling and Xiao Wu race toward Shrek’s exposed rear and Yan attacks from range. Shrek’s other fighters are unable to move while channeling their power into the hammer.
- Realizing that Spirit Hall’s rear attack could decide the match, Tang San acts to end the confrontation immediately. He uses Ring Detonation: Sky-Piercing Strike, exploding several of his own and Ning Chengjiu’s Spirit Rings. The technique also drains Soul Power—and even vitality—from their teammates. Dai Mubai’s injury reopens, and Oscar stops contributing.
- The amplified hammer crashes down on the Radiant Saint Dragon. The dragon stands its ground and fires golden dragon breath wrapped in platinum lightning. The two attacks collide in a tremendous blast, and the arena’s protective barrier shatters.
Character developments
- Tang San shows ruthless urgency and willingness to risk severe damage to himself and his allies. He chooses overwhelming force over a prolonged fight, even at the cost of draining his teammates.
- Ning Chengjiu commits to the joint attack and shares the danger of Tang San’s ring-detonating strike.
- Dai Mubai is visibly weakened as the fusion draws on his power and worsens his injury.
- Oscar withdraws his support, revealing the strain and lack of full commitment within Shrek’s formation.
- Yu Xiaozhu and Tian Ling demonstrate the strength and complementary qualities of their fused Martial Souls by confronting the hammer directly.
Significant themes
- Teamwork and sacrifice: Shrek’s attack depends on all seven members pooling their strength, but the cost falls heavily on their bodies.
- Tactical adaptation: Tang San and Ning Chengjiu discard a familiar strategy when the opponents’ abilities make it unsuitable.
- Power versus endurance: Shrek bets everything on a single decisive blow, while Spirit Hall’s formation combines defense, counterattack, and pressure on the enemy’s rear.
- The price of victory: Tang San’s desperate escalation threatens not only himself but also the teammates whose power and vitality he takes.
Character interactions
- Tang San and Ning Chengjiu coordinate their Martial Souls, then act together in the ring-detonating attack.
- Shrek’s five supporting fighters fuel the hammer, leaving them vulnerable to Spirit Hall’s assault; Dai Mubai suffers, while Oscar stops providing power.
- Spirit Hall’s formations work in tandem: Hu Liena and Xie Yue obscure the fight with red mist, Qian Renling and Xiao Wu attack Shrek’s rear, Yan provides ranged pressure, and Yu Xiaozhu and Tian Ling hold the front with the Radiant Saint Dragon.
- The chapter ends at the collision’s aftermath, with the arena barrier destroyed and the outcome of the clash unresolved.
