Background / History

Dai Huabin entered Shrek Academy as Huo Yuhao's assigned roommate. He did not recognize Huo Yuhao, despite having participated—alongside his mother and the mansion's servants—in the mistreatment that led to Huo Yuhao's mother's death. He initially regarded Huo Yuhao as a commoner, beat him, and forced him to make his bed. 22 23

As a member of the White Tiger Duke Mansion, Dai Huabin was the younger brother of Inner Court disciple Dai Yueheng and the fiancé of Zhu Lu through a family-arranged Martial Soul Fusion marriage. He instead pursued Wang Dong'er, neglected Zhu Lu, and used a Soul Ascension Pill supplied by Dai Yueheng to strengthen himself before challenging Feng Piaoling. 23 24 26

His duel with Feng Piaoling ended in a decisive defeat. After activating his White Tiger Martial Soul, Dai Huabin panicked before Feng's Fire Bomb Talisman barrage and attempted to concede and flee; the referee removed him from the blast's path. 26

Following his loss, Dai Huabin's hostility toward Huo Yuhao gradually changed. They discovered that their Martial Souls possessed perfect compatibility and created the Martial Soul Fusion Skill Tiger Roar Spirit Gate. Their shared cultivation increased their soul power and brought them into an increasingly intimate partnership. 51 52 53 56

Feng Piaoling later exposed Huo Yuhao as Dai Huabin's half-brother. Dai Huabin was devastated by the realization that Huo Yuhao's mother had died after abuse by Dai Huabin, his mother, and their servants. Despite this revelation, the two ultimately reconciled and remained together. 57 58 71

Tang San regarded Dai Huabin as an interference with Huo Yuhao's intended fate and arranged for a fragment of Tang Wutong's soul to enter Dai Huabin through Wang Dong'er. 68 71 191 During the Love God Trial, Dai Huabin gave his life to save Huo Yuhao from Ning Rongrong's torture. The trial restored Huo Yuhao, awarded both five levels of soul power, and transformed Dai Huabin into a woman. 209

Dai Huabin originally appears as a handsome youth with long golden hair parted down the middle and blue eyes. 22

Personality

Dai Huabin is initially arrogant, class-conscious, violent, and quick-tempered. He openly belittles Huo Yuhao as a pauper and commoner, and he uses violence to vent frustration after losing to Feng Piaoling. 22 23 28 30

He is also prideful and impulsive in combat. Although he possesses considerable talent with the White Tiger Martial Soul, his lack of life-or-death experience leaves him terrified when faced with Feng Piaoling's overwhelming fire attack. 26

His relationship with Huo Yuhao reveals a more protective and emotionally dependent side. He becomes deeply worried when Huo Yuhao spends hours in the soul beast forest, recognizes him immediately despite his drastic physical transformation, and ultimately sacrifices himself to save him. 108 209
