Background / History

Zhou Yi served as Class One’s homeroom teacher at Shrek Academy. When Huo Yuhao launched a sneak attack on Feng Piaoling in the Soul Fighting Arena, she apologized on the academy’s behalf but declined to expel Huo, instead referring the matter to Dean Yan Shaozhe; she had recognized the value of his rare support and spiritual abilities. 36

She became convinced that Feng Piaoling possessed Twin Martial Souls, basing her conclusion on his unusually high innate potential despite having a Talisman Martial Soul. Feng challenged the internal contradiction in her reasoning, publicly humiliating her and undermining the theories she revered. The encounter became a lasting obsession for her. 36 37 46

Her conflict with Feng escalated into a personal feud. She attempted to pressure Wang Dong’er into joining Huo Yuhao and Dai Huabin’s assessment team, believing their Martial Soul Fusion Skill could defeat Feng’s group. 48 53 Later, her treatment of Feng’s allies and her expulsion of valuable students led to Feng Piaoling and several Core Disciples leaving Shrek. 76 78

After the students were presumed lost, Yan Shaozhe stripped Zhou Yi of all academy duties and expelled her from Shrek. Her removal was tied both to the current incident and to her history of expelling students without regard for whether they accepted the punishment. 81

Huo Yuhao’s awakening of the Glacier Ape as a second Martial Soul gave Zhou Yi an opportunity to return to prominence. She resumed teaching Huo Yuhao and Dai Huabin, then became leader of the Shrek Seven Devils Reserve Team after Huo requested the post as a condition of joining. 109 113 114

During the Death Hand mission, Zhou Yi led the reserve team with excessive confidence, expecting an easy victory against Evil Soul Masters. The mission was an ambush; a corpse explosion severely disfigured her face and devastated the team. 119 120 121 Her injuries could not be healed conventionally: the flesh of her face rotted away, her nose was partly corroded, and her right ear was destroyed. 126

Following further disgrace, abandonment by Fan Yu, and the crippling of her soul power and Martial Soul, Zhou Yi became a destitute beggar. Tang San, disguising himself as the Rakshasa God, exploited her resentment by offering revenge and power in exchange for her service. 175 189 197

She accepted the bargain, slaughtered a group of beggars as her first trial, recovered her power, and had her Red Dragon Martial Soul altered into a Dark Demon Dragon. Tang San then ordered her to reach the Title Douluo realm within two and a half years by consuming flesh and blood. 189

As an Evil Soul Master, Zhou Yi pursued Huo Yuhao, Dai Huabin, Fan Yu, and Yan Shaozhe. She devoured Yan Shaozhe, gained two levels of soul power, and later devoured Fan Yu while driving Huo Yuhao and Dai Huabin into the Valley of Asking Love. 198 199 Believing she had completed the Rakshasa Third Trial, she exited the valley, only to be instantly killed by Feng Piaoling. 211

Zhou Yi initially concealed her appearance behind an “old hag” mask and half-rimmed glasses. Beneath the mask, she was described as exceptionally beautiful before the Death Hand mission permanently disfigured her. 36 81 126

She was strongly biased toward students she considered useful, particularly Huo Yuhao. Rather than punish him for cheating in the Soul Fighting Arena, she focused on his potential and later treated his Glacier Ape Martial Soul as a means to restore her own position and reputation. 36 113

Her confidence in theoretical knowledge was tied to her admiration for Yu Xiaogang’s teachings. Feng Piaoling’s criticism of her reasoning deeply wounded her pride and developed into personal resentment. 36 46
