Lucky me!

Zhu Jiusi sighed.

He had memories of his past life, and after only two days of cultivating the Spirit Refining Primer, he had condensed his first wisp of spiritual power.

He had officially entered the Dao!

The moment he condensed his first wisp of spiritual power, he opened his eyes and saw several messages.

Orchid Pavilion Scholar and Sword Seven Doesn't Learn Sword had told him they had claimed the second and third Reforging rankings.

There was also an apology from Rain Seeker. He had obtained a Life Stone, but had only completed his second reforging. The third would take several more hours.

More importantly, Daoist Number 323 had sent him a warning—The Daoist is back, pighead! Come and get me!

What a coincidence!

Zhu Jiusi had a Dao Discussion Card he'd gotten from Sword Seven Doesn't Learn Sword, so he answered the summons.

A man and a pig came face to face, their emotions at opposite extremes. Yet they understood each other perfectly and both knew what the other wanted to do.

Daoist Number 323 turned and ran, hoping to rush into the Land God Temple and see if he could return to the Secret Realm.

Zhu Jiusi, however, took his time. He pulled the Crude Telescope from his inventory, propped it on a fork in a tree, and looked toward the Land God Temple.

Through the temple window, he could make out what was inside.

A carriage sat motionless, in the middle of an upgrade.

A man, like an ant on a hot pan, was pacing in a panic, searching for another way out.

No ambush. No traps.

Daoist Number 323 had no idea that entering the Land God Temple would teleport him back at the same time. He hadn't had a chance to prepare any countermeasures.

Then you're dead!

Zhu Jiusi put away the telescope and charged straight for the Land God Temple.

Inside, Daoist Number 323's face was pale and his body trembled slightly. He clutched a sickle in his hand and stared intently at the temple entrance.

Just as the temple couldn't be seen from outside, the scene outside couldn't be seen from within.

He knew he couldn't beat that pig.

He might have had a one-in-five chance in the Secret Realm. Outside it, he had no chance at all.

In the Secret Realm, he had helpers and a treasured blade sharp enough to slice through iron. Unfortunately, the treasured blade from the Marquis Mansion couldn't be stored in his inventory while he was in the Secret Realm.

He'd thought the blade was too heavy when he entered the Land God Temple, so he'd temporarily left it with his steward. He hadn't brought it inside.

He was still consumed with regret when something gray-brown squeezed through the entrance. Without a second thought, he brought the sickle down.

Clang!

A sharp ring sounded, and sparks flew. Only when he opened his eyes did he see that what had come inside was a pig's rump.

The pig's rump was caked in dried mud. The sickle struck it like it was steel, leaving his wrist throbbing with pain.

Daoist Number 323 was horrified. He immediately tried to pull back, but it was too late.

The pig's rump swung around, and the pig lunged at him with its jaws.

Crack! His wrist snapped.

Pain surged through him, but before he could scream, the pig's head jerked, tearing his right hand clean off.

"Ah!" His scream echoed through the Land God Temple.

The Land God statue above him, still mechanically explaining the reforging rules, lowered its head slightly to look down.

But it kept explaining, merely shifting its gaze.

Zhu Jiusi bit through Daoist Number 323's wrist. In the same motion, he raised his head. With a sound like fabric ripping, his tusks pierced the man's abdomen, then ripped open his chest and belly as he thrust upward.

Daoist Number 323's face turned completely white.

"Spare me! Spare me!"

"I wasn't the one who wanted to kill you. I wasn't even involved! I was in the Secret Realm, a young lord of the Marquis Mansion. If I'd been involved, you wouldn't have survived!"

"An old man brought Black and White Impermanence and forced me to reveal your location. They were the ones who gave it to me!"

Daoist Number 323 was overwhelmed with regret.

He shouldn't have taken any chances!

He should have made Bright Moon Illuminating People and the others wait a little longer, until he could bring people to attack and strike together. He shouldn't have given this pig the slightest chance to live!

He screamed frantically, but Zhu Jiusi seemed not to hear him. He didn't pause even for a moment. His tusks swept upward and pierced through the man's chest in an instant.

The pig flung its head, skewering Daoist Number 323 by the base of his neck and slamming his whole body to the ground.

Thud!

With a dull thump, Daoist Number 323 still wasn't dead. Like a cockroach that refused to die, he struggled desperately toward the side, trying to crawl back to his vehicle.

But Zhu Jiusi planted a hoof on his back.

"N-no, don't kill..." He gasped in short bursts. "If you kill me, you won't get the treasures in my inventory. Don't kill me... I'll give you everything..."

Over the past few days, people had figured out quite a few of Journey Survival's rules.

Killing a Path Seeker only yielded a third of their belongings. It was a terrible deal.

The weight pressing down on his back suddenly eased. The wild boar had indeed stopped.

I'm alive...

Daoist Number 323 secretly let out a breath. Then he saw something fall from the wild boar.

It was a piece of paper.

"Take it!" the wild boar said in a muffled voice.

A tool? A slave contract?

Daoist Number 323 instinctively grabbed the paper with his only remaining hand. Better to become a slave than to die!

As long as he was alive, anything was possible.

He glanced at the flimsy thing, unable to tell whether it was silk or paper, and saw a few words on it: Cursed Map.

The next moment, a dull thud sounded behind him. The pig crushed his ribs beneath its hoof. Pain flared in his chest, and a broken rib pierced his heart.

His breath caught in his chest, and he went completely still.

At the same time, the Cursed Map's information appeared.

[ Cursed Map · Calamity. When the map's holder dies, all their supplies will drop.]

Uh...

Daoist Number 323's eyes widened. He looked at Zhu Jiusi in disbelief, then down at the map in his hand.

He wanted to say something, but in the end, he couldn't utter another word.

If there was one thought left in his mind, it was this: he'd chosen the wrong target. When he'd first tried to use morality to put someone on the spot, he'd picked the wrong person!

Too bad he'd never get the chance to do it over...

Blood ran from the corner of his mouth. His head slumped to one side, and his breath stopped. The Scroll displayed information about him from when he was alive, then vanished.

Dead!

Zhu Jiusi stepped on the Cursed Map and immediately collected it.

He looked at the supplies scattered all over the ground.

Collect!

Collect!

He swept everything into his inventory, then turned and ran. He didn't even have time to dismantle Daoist Number 323's vehicle.

Run!

Run, now!

The instant Daoist Number 323 died, the Land God statue came to life!

It looked like a fiendish god.

It snatched up the Reforging Hammer and swung it at Zhu Jiusi's head.

Zhu Jiusi turned and ran.

As he fled, he opened the Scroll and hurriedly sent out a message.

"You can't kill people in Land God Temples or Mountain God Temples!"

He repeated it several times in a row.

Rain Seeker: "? Big shot?"

Monkey Has Iron Rod: "Big shot killed someone again?"

They were busy upgrading! And the big shot was still busy killing people at a time like this? In a temple, no less?

As if realizing something, he immediately searched the name. Sure enough, Daoist Number 323's avatar had gone dark.

The Cave Master big shot never held a grudge. He took revenge on the spot, without even waiting overnight!

Rain Seeker: "Did the Cave Master go to Daoist Number 323's temple and kill him? Weren't you afraid it would disappear along with the temple?"

The temple on each person's road belonged exclusively to them. The Cave Master big shot had gone to the number's road and killed him in his Land God Temple.

If the number died, wouldn't the road disappear? Wouldn't the Land God Temple disappear too?

Wasn't the Cave Master big shot afraid he'd vanish along with the temple?

Everyone shuddered.

Orchid Pavilion Scholar: "Got it! From now on, wait until the enemy leaves the temple before killing them."

Sword Seven Doesn't Learn Sword: "Got it!"

Monkey Has Iron Rod: "..."

Was this how the big shots' minds worked? And Rain Seeker had only gotten a single reminder from the Cave Master big shot, yet she'd immediately figured out the implications?

Just as he was thinking this, an announcement appeared.

[Myriad World Announcement: In District 66 of the Immortal Seeking Domain, the Path Seeker "Cave Master of the Water-Curtain Cave" deduced the Sixth Law. Path Seekers, keep moving forward and keep striving!]

[Law Six: The Divine Path must remain peaceful. Killing is forbidden in all temples.]
