"Captain, that island up ahead should be Gudora Island, the one marked on the treasure map." Nami stood beside Lu Zhuo, looking at the small dark shape appearing on the distant horizon.
Lu Zhuo rubbed his chin and smiled faintly. "Full speed ahead!"
"Aye!"
As the island ahead grew larger and larger, Lu Zhuo's expression suddenly changed.
"Robin, something seems to be happening on that island."
Robin nodded, closed her eyes, and immediately used her ability.
A moment later, she opened her eyes and said, "There's a fight happening on the island ahead. It looks one-sided."
"Oh?" Lu Zhuo stared curiously at the island drawing nearer. This was the place marked on the treasure map, yet someone had arrived before them.
Could Kuma have given him the treasure map, then gone ahead to take Kitetsu?
No, he wouldn't do that.
"Bring us in!"
Lu Zhuo spoke calmly, ready to adapt to whatever came. Though he had gained some insight into the Sword Domain, he hadn't yet formally formed his own.
The Sword Domain had two levels: the Great Path of Complexity and the Great Path of Simplicity.
One sword strike could transform into ten thousand swords. That was the Great Path of Complexity, and it marked the Sword Domain's initial mastery.
Ten thousand swords could emerge, then overlap and condense into a single sword. That was the Great Path of Simplicity, and it marked the Sword Domain's full mastery.
As things stood, Lu Zhuo could turn a single sword into only eight. He was still a long way from turning one sword into ten thousand.
As they drew slowly closer to the island, Lu Zhuo took Nami and jumped ashore. Robin stayed aboard to keep watch over the ship with Conis.
The moment Lu Zhuo set foot on the island, he frowned.
The island looked desolate, but there seemed to be signs of human activity.
In the next instant, he released his Observation Haki, managing to cover nearly half the island.
His eyes suddenly lit up, and he smiled. "Interesting."
"What's so interesting?" Nami asked, looking at Lu Zhuo in confusion. Her Observation Haki was far weaker than his, so she hadn't noticed anything.
Lu Zhuo chuckled. "We're about to have another crew member aboard our ship."
"Huh?!" Nami was taken aback, then gritted her teeth. "Who have you got your eye on this time? Tell me, you womanizer!"
"Oh, come on, I'm innocent!" Lu Zhuo looked at Nami with an exasperated smile. Maybe because his three crew members were all beautiful women and he thought of them as his for the taking, Nami had unconsciously assumed he'd taken an interest in another girl.
"Hmph!" Nami snorted, pinched the flesh at Lu Zhuo's waist, and warned him, "Isn't Robin enough? Now you're adding Conis to the crew, too. If you dare mess around again, I'll never speak to you!"
"Uh..." Lu Zhuo was at a loss for words. He didn't even have any particular feelings for Conis. And what did Nami mean by that? Had she put Conis in that category, too...?
Forget it. The more he tried to explain, the worse it would sound. He'd better get on with business.
With a wry smile, Lu Zhuo fell silent and hurried deeper into the island with Nami.
"Captain, we're done for! We're really done for this time!" A white bear, looking battered and speaking in human language, wailed to the lean man beside him, who wore a tall hat.
The lean man was none other than Trafalgar Law, one of the Supernovas who had been as famous as Luffy in the original story!
"Damn, this guy's ability..." Vines instantly sprang up around Law's feet, wrapping him and the white bear, Bepo, tightly together.
"ROOM, Shambles!"
At a quiet command, Law and Bepo's bodies instantly turned into a chunk of wood. In the next moment, the two of them appeared dozens of meters away.
Just then, a middle-aged man in strange attire appeared, staring coldly at Law and the white bear, Bepo.
"Soru!"
"Shigan!"
He vanished in an instant. When he appeared again, he was already beside Law, his finger instantly sheathed in a layer of black Armament Haki as he jabbed at him.
Law gritted his teeth and hurriedly raised his sword to block.
Clang!
A sharp sound rang out. The tremendous force sent Law flying into Bepo. The man and bear continued hurtling several meters before crashing to the ground.
Bepo stuck out his tongue and cried weakly, "It's over! We're really done for!"
"Damn it!" Law struggled to his feet and glared darkly at the two men closing in. "Who are you, and what are you doing here?"
Shuzo, the middle-aged man, sneered. "You don't need to know. Just wait quietly to die!"
He raised his leg and swung it toward Law.
"Rankyaku!"
A streak of blue light shot toward them. Cold sweat beaded on Law's forehead. After fleeing for so long, he could barely use his ability anymore.
He barely managed to use Shambles once more, shifting himself and Bepo dozens of meters away.
But Shuzo instantly used Soru, covering those dozens of meters in a flash.
Was this really where I was going to meet my end? No. I still have to kill that man. I can't die!
Law struggled, but his ROOM refused to spread no matter what he did.
Bepo let out a scream and shoved Law away with all his strength.
In the next instant, just as Shuzo's blackened finger was about to touch Bepo, it was severed without a sound!
Law and Bepo stared wide-eyed at the sight.
That strange black finger had been impossible for Law to cut through.
Yet now, it had somehow been severed!
Shuzo's expression changed dramatically, and he tried to turn around. But in the next instant, still without a sound, his head fell from his neck, spraying blood!
Biz had just arrived and witnessed the scene. He stared in shock.
"Hey, hey, what's going on? Did that kid use his ability on you? No, that doesn't make sense. His ability can cut people apart, but it can't kill them!"
In the next instant, a figure slowly emerged from the distant woods.
A fierce sword aura spread out, pressing hard against Biz. His chest suddenly tightened, and it felt as though countless blades were scraping against his body.
"Oh, this is bad. Another strong guy has shown up!" Biz shook both hands, barely resisting Lu Zhuo's sword aura as he broke into a strange dance.
"Grow lush! Grow lush!"
In the next instant, an extraordinarily thick vine suddenly sprouted beneath Lu Zhuo's feet and wrapped toward him.
Lu Zhuo continued walking forward as calmly as ever. His right hand seemed to shift slightly over the hilt of his sword.
Crack! Crack!
In an instant, eight disorderly sword flashes swept across the thick vine, reducing it to fragments.
Lu Zhuo kept walking, his pace steady and unhurried, one step after another.
