Danzo heard the voice and, startled, started to turn around, but Feng Yao moved faster.
"Flying Thunder God Slash"
Feng Yao's body became a blur of afterimages as he passed straight through Danzo. Blood sprayed from Danzo's mouth.
"Lord Feng Yao has made his move! Did it work?"
Aside from Orochimaru, Tayuya was undoubtedly the one watching Feng Yao most closely.
But the strike hadn't worked. Danzo had activated Izanagi again, rewriting reality.
Danzo came back to life at full health as if he hadn't been injured at all. The others were once again shocked by his ninjutsu, but the sustained Kotoamatsukami he had cast on Orochimaru had stopped.
Orochimaru came to his senses. He took two steps back and braced a hand against his forehead. Kimimaro hurried over to support him.
"How... how terrifying. There is only one genjutsu in this world capable of doing something like that."
Orochimaru's eyes still held a trace of fear. He wasn't afraid of dying; he was afraid he would never get to learn every ninjutsu in the world and uncover the truth of it.
Fortunately, the technique had been dispelled. But now, in addition to wanting Feng Yao's body, he wanted something else: Shisui's eye!
The eye that could cast Kotoamatsukami!
With that eye, nothing would stand in the way of his path from now on.
At the thought, Orochimaru trembled with excitement.
Rasa was in the worst position of all. Everyone here had their own motives, but he was the only one who'd been betrayed.
And now, his combat strength had taken a severe hit. He could no longer pose an effective threat to anyone, which made him far less useful to Orochimaru.
But he clearly hadn't realized that.
"Orochimaru... what the hell is going on?"
At Rasa's question, Orochimaru slowly turned his head. He showed no remorse for having just dealt the Kazekage a devastating blow.
"Heh, I was merely under the control of a genjutsu. It's over now. I have you to thank for that, Feng Yao."
Feng Yao ignored Orochimaru's thanks. He could keenly sense Orochimaru's hostility toward him. It looked like he would have to kill Danzo today and watch out for Orochimaru as well.
"Orochimaru, cough, cough... then help me kill the Fifth Hokage first."
For Rasa, eliminating the Fifth Hokage took priority over killing Feng Yao. But Orochimaru didn't agree, and brushed him off casually.
"Don't rush, Lord Kazekage~ Let those two fight it out first."
Orochimaru was clearly hoping they would weaken each other so he could swoop in and reap the benefits. He wanted Danzo to force Feng Yao to reveal Sage Mode.
He had fought Feng Yao before and knew Sage Mode's weakness: it didn't last long.
Unfortunately, his information was wrong, and it had led him to make the wrong decision. Feng Yao was using Space-Time Ninjutsu now.
Danzo eyed the bandage-covered man in front of him with suspicion. The Forehead Protector suggested he was one of Orochimaru's men, but the man's bloodlust toward him seemed greater than that of everyone else here combined.
He snorted. Kotoamatsukami had been dispelled, putting him at a disadvantage again, and he couldn't help feeling uneasy.
"I never thought Orochimaru would have someone like you under him. How did you see through Kotoamatsukami?"
Feng Yao wasn't surprised that Danzo hadn't recognized him. Strictly speaking, this was their first time meeting.
"Heh, I'm not one of Orochimaru's men. As for how I saw through Kotoamatsukami, take that question to your grave!"
Feng Yao sneered as he unwound the bandages on his face. Danzo was indeed startled when he saw Feng Yao's face.
But it only confirmed that he'd never seen the man before. If he had, he wouldn't have forgotten him.
"Who are you?"
"I'm the one you've been trying to capture lately—the one who destroyed the Root organization you built with your own hands. Danzo, do you remember Feng Bo and Feng Miao?"
At this point, if Danzo still couldn't figure out who Feng Yao was, he was unfit to be one of the shinobi world's dark power brokers. He realized he'd been wrong from the start: the Third had joined forces with Feng Yao to destroy Root.
"You're Feng Yao! I never thought you were a Konoha traitor! Hmph. You were so bent on revenge that you brought the flames of war to Konoha. I can't imagine how your parents gave birth to a brat like you! They were utterly worthless to the village."
Danzo had struck a nerve again, enraging Feng Yao.
"Listening to your nonsense really does nothing but make me angrier!"
Feng Yao didn't intend to say another word to Danzo. He bit his finger and summoned his strongest fighting force.
"Summoning Technique: Five Underworld Ghosts"
Five enormous specters from the Underworld descended upon the world once more.
Though Danzo had called Feng Yao a brat, he didn't dare let his guard down. Feng Yao's record spoke for itself.
Danzo still had eight eyes left unused, which meant 480 seconds of invulnerability.
"Underworld Domain"
Feng Yao launched the first attack, spreading his domain until it reached the barrier.
Once the domain was active, the Five Ghosts grew even more violent. Slaughter Ghost charged first, swinging its enormous axe at Danzo with a sharp boom of displaced air.
Facing Feng Yao's opening attack, Danzo didn't rush to use Izanagi. Instead, he tried to take out one of Feng Yao's summons first.
"Wood Release: Explosive Spear Tree"
This was the Wood Release Danzo could use thanks to his Hashirama Cells. The technique could both defend against an attack and devour the opponent in an instant.
A massive tree sprouted from his right arm, blocking the axe before reaching to swallow Slaughter Ghost.
But Danzo didn't manage to kill Slaughter Ghost. Feng Yao had Evil Ghost launch a mental attack, and its piercing shriek made Danzo halt his Wood Release. Corpse Ghost seized the opening and ran its spear straight through Danzo.
Izanagi had to be activated once more.
The minute of invulnerability began. Danzo didn't care about taking damage now; he coated a Kunai in Wind Release and charged Feng Yao to fight him.
But Feng Yao knew exactly how long Danzo's Izanagi lasted. Why would he fight him head-on? Any ninjutsu he threw during those sixty seconds would only waste his chakra.
So he used Moonwalk to launch straight into Qin King Circling the Pillar mode. Danzo could only watch helplessly. As soon as Izanagi wore off, Feng Yao sent Corpse Ghost and Slaughter Ghost in together.
Orochimaru frowned as he watched. He hadn't expected Danzo to be so useless.
That resurrection technique was powerful, but Danzo didn't look capable of wearing down Feng Yao's Sage Mode.
Danzo panted slightly. Feng Yao's summons were strange and unpredictable. He was already struggling against just three of the five.
"Looks like I have to take out two of them first." With that thought, Danzo bit his finger and summoned his own beast.
"Summoning Technique: Dream-Eating Beast Baku"
A strange creature with an elephant's trunk, a rhino's eyes, an ox's tail, and tiger's feet landed on the platform.
It roared and opened its mouth wide, using Wind Release to suck in everything in front of it.
The tremendous suction forced Feng Yao to dig in his heels to keep his footing, while Danzo leaped behind the Five Ghosts.
"Wind Release: Vacuum Serial Waves"
He cleverly used Wind Release to strengthen his attack, but he didn't target the ghosts' bodies. Instead, he sliced through Slaughter Ghost and Evil Ghost's legs, causing the two to be swallowed by the Dream-Eating Beast Baku. With Evil Ghost, the one capable of mental attacks, out of the way, Danzo felt much more at ease.
"You're too close to me, Danzo!"
Feng Yao took advantage of Danzo's carelessness and used Moonwalk to rush up to him, grabbing him by the throat. At the same time, Spirit Ghost's tentacles wrapped around Danzo.
Danzo immediately felt his chakra draining away at an alarming rate.
He didn't dare hesitate and formed Hand Seals at once.
"Wind Release: Vacuum Wave"
The blast severed Spirit Ghost's tentacles, while Feng Yao used Intangibility to evade the Wind Release.
Danzo hurriedly retreated. In that brief moment, half his chakra had been drained. He no longer had enough chakra to use Izanagi without restraint.
Meanwhile, Spirit Ghost replenished the chakra Feng Yao had spent summoning the ghosts.
Seeing this, Rasa inwardly cheered, having completely forgotten his agreement with Orochimaru.
Danzo saw that things had turned against him and sent the Dream-Eating Beast Baku charging in, using Wind Release to buy time.
He then used Wind Release: Vacuum Serial Waves again, but this time he didn't target Feng Yao. He attacked the domain and the barrier trapping him.
Danzo no longer wanted to fight. He knew that if this continued, he would die here.
His rational mind filled him with fear of death, and that fear eventually became cowardice.
As he attacked the barrier, Danzo screamed inwardly.
"For Konoha, I have to survive! I'm the only one in this world who can change the shinobi world!"
But Feng Yao used Flying Thunder God to appear in front of him. He had marked Danzo with the Flying Thunder God Formula when he grabbed him earlier.
The Kunai slashed upward, cutting through Danzo's body and heart.
