I Need a Psyker

"Where are you... you bastard..."

"For the Emperor... for the Legion Commander..."

Duncan was so anxious he began to pray to Qin Mo, hoping his creation could display even greater power at this moment, such as widening the range of the biological scanner.

However, that function wasn't designed to find people in the first place. Its conceptual design was for infantry to clear out any surviving enemies nearby after a battle.

While monitoring the HUD within his helmet, Duncan sprinted under the speed enhancement of his power armor. As he headed due north, the biological scanner interface finally registered a red dot.

Human: 1.

Once the result appeared, the HUD directly marked the red dot's location within the field of view, allowing the power armor wearer to see the target more intuitively.

Duncan let out a long sigh and cautiously moved towards the red dot's location, ensuring high-speed movement while not forgetting to remain concealed.

After tracking for two minutes, Duncan hid on a metal ramp and observed the situation ahead.

Albert was walking alone, his eyes emitting a purple glow in the dim environment.

He walked incessantly, like a walking corpse.

Duncan instinctively wanted to rush over and pull Albert back, his mind also quickly assessing and deeming it feasible.

If Albert's blind march was due to psychic power, then the psychic dampening device integrated into the power armor could slightly isolate the psychic influence.

But just as Duncan was about to charge forward, he saw a group of rebels riding motorcycles speeding towards them from a distance.

Upon approaching Albert, a bald woman jumped off her motorcycle, looking at Albert excitedly, scrutinizing him, her mouth opening and closing as she spoke.

The distance was too great to hear what she was saying, but Duncan's HUD zoomed in on the woman's mouth and analyzed her lip movements.

A string of text appeared in his field of vision: "We finally caught an enemy. Take him back. I need to find the location of that human freak through him."

After Albert got on the motorcycle himself and was taken away, Duncan didn't immediately charge after them but maintained a distance and followed quietly.

Only after two hours of tracking did Duncan stop as Albert was led into an abandoned metal harvesting shaft.

Staring at the deep opening of the metal harvesting shaft, Duncan squatted on the ground, filled with anger and worry, holding his head as he contemplated what his most correct next decision should be.

Ultimately, Duncan chose to return and report what he had seen.

47th Regiment Garrison Fortress.

Qin Mo was in an underground cave constructing a machine to reverse-engineer the Gene Stealer Patriarch's location when he learned from Klein about the incident reported by Duncan.

Qin Mo instantly grasped the entire picture of the situation; it was easy to guess.

Clearly, Albert had gone out to roam, was found by a rebel psyker, controlled, and then taken away.

Such incidents were extremely infuriating and surprising within the Imperial Guard, but they were not unexpected from the Planetary Defense Force.

Qin Mo knew very well that the combat effectiveness and discipline of the Planetary Defense Force were not even as good as the militia from Kato's side.

"If I may speak frankly, I've always said not to expect too much from our Planetary Defense Force," Klein said helplessly, then habitually asked, "What do we do next?"

"Psyker..." Qin Mo looked at the machine he was building. "I need a rebel psyker, I really need one."

Klein didn't know why Qin Mo needed a psyker, but he knew Qin Mo's needs were definitely reasonable.

"Send Grey and Grot to clear out that harvesting shaft," Qin Mo looked up at Klein. "I have only one request: bring back the psyker, or bring back their heads. But only if the brain tissue is still alive."

"Yes," Klein turned and walked out of the cave.

Qin Mo continued to enjoy the process of creation.

Two minutes later.

A drone transport aircraft flew above the metal harvesting shaft.

Grey and Grot immediately jumped off the transport and entered the harvesting shaft, maintaining a two-meter distance to avoid injuring each other with their gravity shields.

"I'll take the front, you take the rear," Grey said.

"Leave it to me, brother." Grot turned around, his back to Grey. The HUD on his helmet immediately displayed the view behind him, allowing him to walk backward with ease.

After descending into the depths, Grey activated thermal imaging and initiated life detection.

As the life detection wave scanned the entire mine, Grey suddenly heard rustling sounds, and then several crawling monsters appeared directly in front of him.

These monsters were vastly different from humans; within the human Imperium, they were collectively referred to as xenos.

The xenos crawled along the walls of the harvesting shaft at extreme speed.

Grey raised his hands. His right hand unleashed a shotgun laser, blocking the advance route of the xenos. His left hand, a prosthetic limb personally crafted by Qin Mo, unleashed its most core function.

As his left hand's fingers clenched, the xenos in front of him exploded, their biological matter scattering throughout the passage.

By this time, the biological scan was also complete.

"We've stumbled into a nest of xenos," Grey said, looking at the scan results on his HUD.

The scan results showed dense clusters of red dots nearby. As the exact locations of these dots were marked in his vision, the red markers had to be dimmed to prevent Grey from seeing nothing but markers.

"I can't even see the way out anymore," Grot calmly observed their retreat path. A large number of xenos had already blocked the exit and were crawling towards them.

After the first xenos approached and was crushed by the gravity shield, Grot charged forward a few steps, crushing several xenos before stopping in front of a larger one and swinging the gravity hammer in his hand.

After the xenos was smashed into a two-dimensional pattern by the gravity hammer, the gravity shield reactivated, crushing the xenos that were about to pounce on Grot.

With the xenos offensive temporarily halted, Grey deactivated the gravity shield and approached the corpses to examine them.

Unlike most of the rebels, these xenos only had many subtle aspects that still retained human-like biological structures.

Grey took pictures of the creatures' corpses and retrieved a biological tissue collection device from his jetpack.

This was a device distributed to everyone wearing top-tier power armor, and it looked like a handgun. Once inserted into a corpse, it would automatically extract biological tissue.

This was a contingency Qin Mo had prepared for his grand plan; if he couldn't kill the Patriarch, he at least had to find a way to obtain the Patriarch's blood and biological tissue.

Grey, however, deemed it necessary to extract the biological tissue from these new xenos.

"Keep moving, brother." Grey reactivated the gravity shield, raising the power armor's shoulder cannon and aiming it forward. "We don't have time to get bogged down with these things. Let's finish the mission quickly."

As soon as he spoke, the shoulder cannon, adjusted to cannon mode, unleashed a torrent of beams, directly melting the metal on the ceiling of the passage ahead until a straight passage was blasted open.

This passage was originally meant to go downwards, but thanks to Grey's kind assistance, a straight passage was now blasted through.
