The two continued forward through the passage, repeatedly activating Bio-Scan as they followed Qin Mo's orders to search for the Psyker he needed.
After advancing roughly a thousand meters, a purple marker appeared on the HUD.
"Psychic Power signature detected. Target has been marked."
The cold electronic voice sounded within his helmet. Grey looked toward the purple marker and aimed his Shoulder Cannon in that direction, burning a path through the metal wall.
Since there could be no aliens inside the walls, Grot, following behind, was responsible for the main assault.
Grot had originally thought he could handle these aliens with just his gravity hammer, but he saw the combat system's analysis of them on the HUD.
The claws on the aliens' hands were magnified and marked as dangerous.
Grot immediately stowed the gravity hammer in the weapon slot on his back, raised both hands, and aimed his shotgun lasers forward.
Once again, a large number of aliens poured out from the far end of the passage. After Grot opened fire, he easily cut off their advance.
The aliens were tough, but the shotgun lasers were simply too numerous and dense. In the end, all they could do was leave corpses strewn across the passage.
"There are quite a lot of these alien bastards." Grot raised his hands and waited for the shotgun lasers to cool.
The heat generated by the weapons was rapidly absorbed by the Energy Engine. In less than a second, Grot could unleash firepower on the aliens again.
"You could just stand there and wait for the Gravity Shield to crush them," Grey reminded him as they walked.
"I know, but I just like shooting them. Otherwise, why would this Power Armor have weapons installed?" Grot said with a grin.
After reaching the end of the passage they had blasted open, Grey used his Shoulder Cannon to clear the way again.
Grot continued spraying the aliens rushing toward them.
Compared to combat, this was more like a stroll. The two even had time to chat.
"Didn't the brothers urge you to ask the Legion Commander to name your Power Armor?" Grot asked. "What's this Power Armor called?"
"Power Armor. Its name is Power Armor. That's what he said," Grey answered indifferently.
"Then our Power Armor has to be distinguished from ordinary soldiers' Power Armor, right?"
"That's what I said too. Then the Legion Commander got sick of me pestering him and made up a name: Custodian."
"Custodian? Sounds decent."
After moving downward, sideways, and in various other directions for half an hour, Grey saw that he was only ten meters from the Psychic Power signature marker.
When the Shoulder Cannon fired again, expending two percent of its seventy percent energy reserve, it melted open a path into an underground cavity.
The enemy had long known that the two had broken in, so they had prepared an ambush here.
As Grey swept his gaze across the underground cavity, he saw a large group of Rebel soldiers hiding behind cover, aiming Laser Rifles and projectile weapons at him.
In a corner of the underground cavity, one of their own soldiers was holding an alien longsword, weakly swinging it as he fought two Rebel infantrymen.
"Albert." Grey recognized the soldier. He still remembered rescuing Albert and Duncan with Qin Mo before.
Albert's fight with the Rebel infantrymen looked more like an execution. He was completely suppressed, missing one arm and covered in wounds.
The focus of this mission was not rescuing Albert, but Grey was willing to save him—provided he first completed Qin Mo's mission of capturing the Psyker.
The Rebels' Psyker stood behind the Rebel infantrymen, with another Psyker beside her.
Only upon observing them at close range did Grey realize that there was not just one Psychic Power signature marker, but two overlapping markers.
"Fire!" one of the Psykers roared.
A barrage of beams and solid rounds flew toward Grey and Grot. Standing amid the hail of gunfire, the two reacted calmly.
Grey raised both hands, while Grot deactivated the Gravity Shield and drew his gravity hammer from his back.
After the shotgun lasers in Grey's hands opened fire, the Rebel infantrymen and their cover were riddled with holes within two seconds. There was not even a single intact corpse to be found.
Some might not have been completely dead yet, but the defenses they had set up had indeed been shattered.
Grot's Jump Pack blasted flames backward, propelling him toward the two Psykers at tremendous speed.
As he ran, one of the Psykers raised her hand. A mass of debris rose into the air, flew toward Grot, and wrapped around him, temporarily stopping his charge.
Just as Grot was about to break free from the debris, the other Psyker unleashed flames.
"I'm a Custodian, bitch!" Grot roared amid the fire. His Jump Pack surged at full power, allowing him to break free at once as he swung his gravity hammer viciously at the Psyker's head.
As Grot smashed one of the two Psykers flat, Grey had already raised his left hand and pulled the other Psyker toward him from afar, clamping his hand tightly around her throat.
The Psy-Suppressor integrated into the Power Armor took effect, leaving the Psyker in Grey's grip utterly incapable of resisting. She could only weakly pound on his arm armor to show that she could not breathe.
The battle ended there.
Grot ran over to Albert to check his condition. After a Bio-Scan, Albert's body outline was highlighted, with a line of text floating at its center.
Excessive blood loss. Survival chance: 0.
"He's dead," Grey said.
"Yes." Grot nodded, his gaze falling on Albert's face. "He's smiling. I guess he saw us slaughtering the Rebels."
Grey silently activated Bio-Scan, found the enemies who had not yet been fully killed, and used telekinesis to blow off their heads.
Once there were no living people left in the underground cavern apart from the two of them and the captured Psyker, Grey turned to Grot. "We can't leave his body here. Take him back with us."
They had not killed every alien on their way in. When they began their return, the passage was already packed with snarling aliens.
This time, Grot walked in front. Carrying the corpse over his shoulder, he used his Shoulder Cannon to clear the path.
When beams fired from the Shoulder Cannon, the aliens in the passage ahead instantly turned to ash. It was more efficient than using the gravity hammer or shotgun lasers.
No one spoke on the way back.
Grey and Grot both found themselves thinking that the only difference between them and ordinary soldiers might be that they wore Terminator Power Armor.
Without this Power Armor, they had no idea how many times they would have died already.
Grot looked reckless, but he was a sensitive person at heart. He began worrying about the soldiers at every position who wore only ordinary Power Armor.
Grey, meanwhile, wondered whether he should undergo more modifications, so that he would still retain combat capability even without Terminator Power Armor.
After leaving the extraction well, the two boarded a transport aircraft and returned to the fortress garrisoned by the 47th Regiment.
