They had been immensely powerful, and the Space Marines had suffered tremendous casualties in the wars against them.

The Rangda had been classified as a xenos power, and their armies had looked like xenos as well—but that was in the real Lion's mind.

Now, the Rangda Clone Lion remembered upon seeing the invaders' images on the data-slate were human heretics who used Iron Men as their primary force.

There was even a warning from the Emperor in Clone Lion's mind.

It was to completely eradicate the Rangda, but to keep some of the Iron Men they used as one of the First Legion's trump cards.

And in Clone Lion's memories, he had indeed done exactly that.

It was not just Lion. Every clone Primarch present had more or less some fragmentary memories of the Rangda—bits of information they had heard secondhand, all concerning the Rangda's use of Iron Men.

The Iron Men slaughtering their way across the data-slate reminded Lion of the sons who had been massacred by identical Iron Men.

"Intruders detected!"

Alerts suddenly rang through the laboratory. Then, the doors that had already been impossible to open were reinforced by layer upon layer of armored plating.

"Maybe that bastard who killed himself really was trying to protect us." Lion put down the data-slate and stared at Guilliman in astonishment.

Guilliman frowned and pondered for a while before slowly shaking his head. "No, that seems unlikely. If he was really trying to protect us, why would he kill himself instead of explaining things? Besides, look at the things fighting the Rangda on the data-slate. Their master doesn't seem like a good sort."

"Besides, the Rangda should have been wiped out by you."
