The rebel Primarchs had, more or less, reasons beyond their control. While that did not absolve them of the crime of rebellion, it at least made people feel that their four- or five-meter-tall bodies were not filled entirely with black water.

Except for Lorgar.

After Guilliman destroyed the Perfect City, the Word Bearer Primarch's faith collapsed, and he promptly converted to another faith.

Of course, his foster father Khorvaire and that supreme bastard Erebus had influenced Lorgar to some extent, but at the root of it all, Lorgar rebelled because of one terrible habit.

That habit was his need to believe in something, or else he felt awful all over.

By the time the clone Primarchs had begun discussing how they could continue making themselves useful, Lorgar had only just started asking about his rebellion.

He asked because he had thought long and hard while Horus was speaking, yet simply could not figure out how he could have rebelled.

"Who told you that I rebelled? Mortarion?"

Lorgar slowly rose to his feet and questioned Mortarion.

The latter stared back at Lorgar with an impassive expression.

"How could I possibly rebel? The Emperor's faith has now spread to every corner of the Imperium. That should have been the result of my efforts!"

"I thought I was the one carrying the banner of the Imperium, guiding humanity today as they fought you rebel Primarchs beneath the Father-Emperor's radiance!"

Lorgar spoke those words in a near roar.

It was as if, if Mortarion failed to provide a reliable source, Lorgar would devour him alive.

Faced with the shouted challenge, Mortarion raised a hand and pointed at Qin Mo.
