Background / History
Tang San monitors the Douluo Continent from the God Realm and treats Huo Yuhao—the Child of Destiny—as essential to restoring the Tang Sect, maintaining continental stability, and reinforcing his own God Realm position. When Huo Yuhao's intended connection to Tang Ya and Bei Bei is severed, Tang San discovers an unfamiliar Shrek Academy protected by a barrier he cannot penetrate. He responds by ordering Da Ming and Er Ming to enroll his daughter Xiao Qi at the new academy as an observer. 15 73
He initially rejects the academy's Soul Tool-based development, believing that cultivation, martial souls, and Tang Sect hidden weapons are the proper path to strength. Although he considers seizing Soul Tool technology and adapting it into Tang Sect weaponry, he ultimately permits Xiao Qi to attend the academy so she can monitor the unforeseen “variable” within it. 17 104
Tang San becomes increasingly alarmed by Tang Wulin, whose Blue Silver Grass martial soul, dragon-type bloodline, and golden soul rings do not fit his understanding of the continent's destined order. He regards Tang Wulin as an uncontrollable piece on his “chessboard” and considers drawing him out of the academy to eliminate him. 72 73
His confidence is shaken when he learns of an academy Tang Sect with a twenty-thousand-year history and a possible connection to Tang Lan, who raised him in his previous life. Tang San initially assumes any organization named Tang Sect is his property, then becomes determined to investigate whether this sect is tied to Tang Lan and instructs Xiao Qi to learn its techniques. 161 163
After observing Xiao Qi cultivate the complete Mysterious Heaven Skill, Tang San realizes the version he learned was incomplete. Feeling deceived, he considers exposing the Douluo Continent to the Abyss Plane—both as retaliation and as a way to test the airborne Shrek Academy without personally taking the risk. 178 179
Tang San later orders Tang Hao to kill Tang Wulin and his companions outside the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. The intervention fails when Tang Hao is injured and driven away; Tang San is subsequently challenged by the God King of Destruction for interfering in the lower realm and sending Xiao Qi there. 301 302 303 304
During Tang Wulin's battle with Ye Xinglan, the Goddess of Life identifies Tang Wulin as bearing both Tang San's and Xiao Wu's bloodlines. Tang San's hostility turns into shock, guilt, and a desire to connect with the son he had not recognized. 377 379
Personality
Tang San is intensely controlling and convinced that the Douluo Continent's proper future depends on events proceeding according to his design. He views Huo Yuhao as a necessary instrument for his plans and initially treats Tang Wulin as a dangerous variable to be removed. 73 381
He is proud of his legacy, particularly the Tang Sect and its hidden weapons, and reacts strongly when Soul Tools challenge their relevance. His attachment to the Tang Sect is possessive: he assumes that any Tang Sect on the continent belongs to him, yet his response to Tang Lan also reveals gratitude toward the person who raised him. 17 161 163
Despite his strategic caution, Tang San is prone to jealousy and anger. He envies Xiao Qi's access to the complete Mysterious Heaven Skill, feels betrayed by the incomplete version he inherited, and contemplates catastrophic retaliation against the continent. 178 179
