Background / History

Azure Luan Douluo threatened Skywater Academy with destruction unless Shui Bing'er married his disciple, Huang Yan. Shui Bing'er accepted the marriage to protect her academy, while Huo Wu protested the coercion on her behalf. 2 3

During the subsequent journey, Huang Yan's parents, Huang Ran and Ma Min, warmly welcomed Shui Bing'er and encouraged their relationship. Uncomfortable with the circumstances of her departure from Skywater Academy, she nevertheless refrained from exposing the coercion to the enthusiastic couple. 6

She later travelled with Huang Yan and Azure Luan Douluo to Martial Soul City, where she transferred from Skywater Academy to Spirit Hall Academy's Elite Class. Her admission was challenged by Hu Liena, but Shui Bing'er demonstrated her level 41 Ice Phoenix martial soul and accepted a spar to establish her standing. 11 12
