Chapter 37: Gods? Minions!
"I'm back," Qin Xia strode into the cave.
He paused when he saw the gladiators gathered together, waiting for him.
"What's up?" Qin Xia felt the atmosphere was a bit subtle, serious.
"Buddy," Klyster slowly stepped forward, staring into Qin Xia's eyes with a composed expression.
Qin Xia frowned, looking at Klyster, not understanding.
Klyster's expression suddenly changed from composure to ecstasy: "You killed a squad of Praetorian Guards! You killed a squad! An entire squad!"
The gladiators cheered.
Ono, from behind the crowd, also cast an admiring glance at Qin Xia.
Angron didn't understand why the death of the Praetorian Guards made everyone so happy, but since everyone else was happy, he was happy too, looking like he was grinning foolishly.
"You took down all the Praetorian Guards with just a few moves... that bastard called Swordsman, you tore off his arm and strangled him to death! Well done!"
"Before I saw this, I thought messengers of the gods didn't bleed..."
"Messengers of the gods do bleed. Ono killed a Praetorian Guard when he was young."
"I didn't kill a Praetorian Guard completely. That guy got stuck in quicksand, and I finished him off."
"..."
Listening to the gladiators' praise and exclamations, Angron finally understood why they were so excited and amazed by the deaths of those Praetorian Guards.
It was because, in their eyes, killing warriors of that caliber with bare hands was impossible.
"Those scum are not messengers of the gods, and the High Knights are not gods either."
Qin Xia said with a smile, gesturing with his hands.
"When that bastard who called himself Swordsman charged at me, I instantly knew where I should hit him."
"I grabbed the throat of his destiny, you see? I ripped off his right arm with a snap, then threw him away."
"I ran at that bastard with a few quick steps... I wasn't thinking of strangling him then, I wanted to kick him to death."
As Qin Xia spoke, he took two steps back, creating distance from everyone, then quickly jumped up and kicked out with his feet together.
"Just like that, a flying kick."
"But then I thought killing him with a kick would be too easy for him. His dead father drugged me, and he still had the nerve to seek revenge?"
After performing an Ultraman-style flying kick, Qin Xia quickly got up from the ground and said to the crowd, "If it were you, you could also kill those lackeys of the High Knights."
The gladiators had been very excited, but when Qin Xia's last sentence reached their ears, everyone except Angron and Ono fell silent, and the atmosphere instantly turned cold.
"You have a strong physique," Klyster said. "You can dodge and tear off a Praetorian Guard's arm, but we can't."
"You really can't dodge," Qin Xia nodded with a smile. "But I say you can kill the Praetorian Guards because the Praetorian Guards and the High Knights are people just like you. They're just relying on their good equipment."
"Klyster."
"If you were given a power spear, or some other nasty weapon."
Qin Xia said to Klyster.
"Your combat skills would make killing a Praetorian Guard like killing a dog. You'd shoot them right in the face, make them spit blood and convulse all over."
Upon hearing this, Klyster did not agree, merely forcing a smile.
Qin Xia understood that most people here were afraid of the Praetorian Guards and the High Knights.
The gods on Nuceria, this title was not something the High Knights just made up out of arrogance and confidence. As Ono said, they could do things that only gods could do.
But these people needed to understand why the High Knights and the Praetorian Guards could act like gods, and how to prevent them from using their so-called "divine power."
This would take time, and now was not the time for a long speech.
"Guys, it's Triumph Rope time!" Qin Xia sat on the ground, exposing his broad back. "One hit each, help me record this victory of a one-sided slaughter of Praetorian Guards."
Qin Xia looked very happy, very cheerful.
Ono looked at Qin Xia, recalling the ferocity and ruthlessness Qin Xia had shown in the arena just now.
The old bear pondered for a moment and felt that Qin Xia might have a clear line dividing people into friends, neutrals, and enemies.
The ruthlessness and ferocity were contradictory to the current cheerful friendliness, but people were just that complex and contradictory.
Klyster stepped forward with a smile and pricked a small bloodstain on Qin Xia's back, deliberately speaking in a rough voice, "So, you're a Praetorian Guard Butcher now! Stud!"
"Of course, Madam Quasi-Praetorian Guard Butcher," Qin Xia replied with a smile. "I'm also a damn Praetorian Guard Widow Maker."
"Praetorian Guard Widow Maker... Widow Maker..." Angron suddenly froze, then his face lit up with surprise. "Good name. If I can get a good weapon in the future, I'll name my weapon with this name."
Night.
Yochura was huddled in a corner, sweating all over and pale from the pain of his severed arm.
He had already wrapped the magical bandages he had been given around the stump, but they only helped the severed part heal quickly. The pain still existed, and it was hard to tell where it was coming from.
As the pain made the young gladiator, who was the same age as Qin Xia, lose consciousness, he would recall the scene of his arm being cut off and dismembered by the Skinners. Every time he thought of it, the pain intensified.
As his consciousness faded, Yochura vaguely saw someone approach him.
Then, that person squatted down, injected something into his arm, and the pain subsided.
"I only found this in the Praetorian Guard's armor when I was in the arena," Qin Xia said, sitting beside Yochura and crushing the empty vial. "This is probably what they use for quick pain relief when injured. Do you feel any effect?"
Yochura didn't respond.
He desperately wanted to respond, but after being tormented by pain and then suddenly relieved, he was too weak to speak.
After Qin Xia sat with Yochura for half an hour, Yochura finally managed to recover a little and apologized for his silence. "I... I'm sorry... I..."
"It's alright, I understand," Qin Xia said, patting Yochura's back. "This should relieve the pain for a few days. Give me some more time, and I'll find a way to stop your pain, or even restore your limb completely."
Yochura looked at Qin Xia, his facial muscles trembling, and with great effort, he managed to force out a smile.
Qin Xia looked at Yochura, recalling how Klyster and Ono had gone to bandage Yochura after he was injured.
He felt that offering only verbal comfort without material help when it was needed was ineffective, so he began to plan how to use his psychic power to regenerate severed limbs.
He hadn't figured it out yet, but at least he had a vial he found on the Praetorian Guard to help Yochura.
"You... you are very kind to me..." Yochura said. "Why... why?"
Qin Xia was taken aback by the question.
After a brief silence, Qin Xia lowered his head in thought for a few seconds and slowly replied, "Because your mother cares about you very much. I don't even know your mother's name, nor do I know her, but I care deeply about people like you... and I envy you..."
"Rest well, tough guy," Qin Xia said, standing up and returning to his corner to sit cross-legged, closing his eyes. "I'm going to strive to see your son whole and healthy before your mother visits again."
