After traveling for nearly half an hour, they finally arrived beneath Mizukage Castle.
Once they arrived, Lucy noticed that Kirigakure's ninjas did not obediently walk across the bridge. They generally chose to jump down from beneath it, their figures swiftly vanishing into the forest.
There were also ninjas climbing straight up the walls from beneath the bridge.
The young ninja thoughtfully waited for Lucy to look around.
Yura looked at Mizukage Castle.
The entire Mizukage Castle was two stories tall. The lower level was built from gray bricks, its walls looking thick and solid, without a single window. Only a ring of doorways broke up the walls, which stood around thirty meters high. The upper level was made of brick and tile, with a flat circular roof and a full ring of floor-to-ceiling windows.
After entering Mizukage Castle through one of the doorways, they still had to climb stairs. The spiral staircase only allowed two people to pass side by side, and the passage was enclosed, with crude electric lamps hanging on both sides for lighting. It felt as if they had circled the entire Mizukage Castle again and again. After roughly four circuits, they finally reached the top, where a great hall came into view, with hurried Kirigakure ninjas constantly passing through.
Yura's eyes flickered. What an exquisite design. The spiral staircase she had taken was not the only one, and there were connecting hidden passages as well. If enemies invaded, they would easily lose their bearings.
There were quite a few doorways in this hall, each with signs hanging above them to indicate directions.
Following the young Kirigakure ninja, they entered a passageway. There were many branching paths along the way, numerous ninjas walking toward them, and many rooms with tightly shut doors, each serving different functions.
