Naruto said "not bad, not bad" with his mouth, but secretly corrected his technique with his hands, firing the shuriken just as Sasuke had instructed.
After the correction, there was a clear improvement in his ninja tool throwing, and he hit the bullseye several times.
Sasuke: "..."
Denji smiled with satisfaction; he understood that Naruto would likely practice more after returning home, and with the experience Sasuke had imparted, he shouldn't do too poorly tomorrow.
Even if he didn't succeed tomorrow, sooner or later he would be able to take first place in throwing.
After all, ninja tool throwing was relatively simple.
Ninja tool throwing was calculated based on ten shots, divided into stationary targets and moving targets. Since they were still in their first year, they were only practicing on stationary targets.
It was still possible to hit ten out of ten.
Under conditions where the difficulty wasn't high, if multiple people hit ten out of ten, they would be considered tied for first place.
There was still hope.
After class ended, the group scattered like birds and beasts.
After all, no one wanted to stay in the classroom any longer than necessary.
This time was an exception; Sasuke and Denji walked in front, Sakura and Ino walked together, and Naruto hovered to the side, seemingly wanting to join in but unable to find a suitable spot.
Hinata walked all alone.
Glancing at the gathering of children from the corner of her eye, a thought popped into her mind: "I really want to join them, to talk and laugh with Denji-kun just like they do."
Denji noticed Hinata was left behind and waved his hand: "Hinata, over here."
Hinata froze, watching the crowd move toward her, too nervous to move.
"Let's go. Let's walk home together!"
Denji skillfully took Hinata's hand and walked on.
Ding! Completed Hinata's wish [The Loneliness of One Person]!
Denji glanced at the system notification, feeling a bit surprised—was the wish completed just like that?
Hinata, you really are my treasure!
These wish points are too easy to farm!
Seeing Denji take Hinata's other hand, Ino refused to be outdone and grabbed his other side, silently squeezing Sasuke out of his position.
Ding! Completed Ino's wish [A Spot by His Side]!
Giving Ino a surprised look and seeing the wish points she provided, Denji nodded and let her hold his hand.
Seeing Ino take Denji's hand without him refusing, Sakura felt a spark of inspiration.
She remembered what Ino had said: "When a girl pursues a boy, it's like a thin veil. Girls need to be proactive, too."
Sasuke had been squeezed to the back by Ino, putting him right next to Sakura.
A perfect opportunity!
Sakura cheered herself on, and as they walked, she slowly leaned her body toward Sasuke.
Sasuke frowned, wanting to move to the other side, but Naruto was there, and he didn't want to get too close to that dead last.
So, he ignored her and kept walking forward.
Sakura felt triumphant: There's hope.
Her hand inched closer to Sasuke, only to be brushed away.
Sasuke said indifferently: "What are you doing?"
Sakura: The script wasn't supposed to go like this.
Seeing Ino turn back to smile at her, she couldn't help but stomp her feet.
Seeing the broad-foreheaded girl get angry, Naruto stepped forward to ask: "What's wrong, Sakura? Is your foot itchy?"
Seeing Naruto, Sakura's anger flared even more: "Mind your own business!"
Having witnessed everything, Denji shook his head helplessly.
If there was one thing he wanted to teach Naruto, it would be: stop being a simp, it won't end well for you.
Walking along the path home, eventually, only Sasuke and Denji remained.
The Uchiha compound was on the edge of Konoha, so Sasuke was always the last to arrive home.
As for Denji, in order to farm wish points, he had gone out of his way to walk Ino and Hinata home first.
The two chatted casually; Sasuke was usually a man of few words, until Denji asked a question about his older brother, Uchiha Itachi.
Sasuke's floodgates seemed unable to close, every sentence starting with "My brother" or "My brother."
Denji: "..."
A flash appeared before them, and a black figure stood in their path.
"I never expected you to be hanging around with an Uchiha brat."
A raspy voice, a gloomy face, and half of his head wrapped in bandages.
It was none other than Shimura Danzō.
Sasuke was startled by this getup.
Danzō glanced at Sasuke, looking utterly disdainful.
"The naturally evil Uchiha brat..."
Sasuke said guardedly, "Who are you?"
Danzō said coldly, "You are not worthy of knowing this old man's name."
He looked at Denji: "Kid, you're coming with me."
A chill rose in Denji's heart.
He certainly knew of Shimura Danzō, the character known as the "Darkness of the Shinobi World."
The title "Darkness of the Shinobi World" was not only acknowledged by other ninja villages but was also widely recognized within Konoha itself.
As a disciple of the Second Hokage, Tobirama, this "Darkness of the Shinobi World" had perfectly inherited his master's sinister and ruthless traits.
As the leader of Root, he not only struck hard against those outside the village but also adhered to the philosophy of "all the heroes of the world shall fall into my grasp" regarding the talent within Konoha.
Civilian ninjas from orphanages, geniuses from the Aburame Clan, and even geniuses from the Yamanaka Clan had all been coerced and threatened into joining Root to be used at his whim.
And what kind of end could a ninja who joined Root possibly have?
If the ninjas of this world were merely tools for those in power, then the ninjas of Root were nothing more than toilet brushes.
Once branded with the Cursed Seal of the Individual Curse Tongue, their life and death rested entirely in Danzō's hands.
That Danzō could act so brazenly within the village was also due to the misplaced compassion of Sarutobi Hiruzen.
The bond between the two fellow disciples was truly deep, but it was the pile of wronged souls in Root that suffered for it.
Denji took out his ninja tool pouch, looked at Danzō cautiously, and assumed a combat stance.
He knew he had been targeted; it might be because of his return from the Land of Rain, or perhaps because of his experiments with Scorch Release within his clan.
But things had reached this point, and he had no choice but to fight.
He could not defeat Shimura Danzō; that was beyond doubt.
Danzō had galloped across the shinobi world for years and, as a fellow disciple of the Second Hokage alongside Sarutobi Hiruzen, his strength would not be far off from the Hokage—he was a Kage-level powerhouse.
He himself had only arrived in this world a few days ago.
But he didn't need to win; he just needed to stall until someone else arrived...
Danzō's eyes turned cold, and he snorted: "Refusing a toast only to be forced to drink a forfeit."
He then flicked his hands, throwing four shuriken, all aimed at parts of Denji's body that would incapacitate him without being lethal.
"Watch out!"
Sasuke called out a warning.
He threw two shuriken from his hand.
They spun in the air, bang! bang!
They knocked down two of them.
There were still two left!
The trajectory was straight. They could be deflected.
Denji narrowed his eyes, his hands moving without hesitation as he threw two more.
Bang! bang!
He knocked down the two shuriken at close range.
"Stubborn!"
Danzō spoke coldly, though he was satisfied with Denji's talent as a ninja.
The better Denji's talent was, the more he would be able to shine and serve in Root.
Throwing those two shuriken casually was, in itself, intended as a test for Denji.
Otherwise, it wouldn't have been just shuriken coming his way.
"It's not over yet!"
With a flick of his fingers, the wires hidden in the shuriken connected to his fingers began to alter their trajectories.
The four shuriken were no longer flying straight, but were arcing toward Denji.
"Manipulated Shuriken Technique!"
Sasuke recognized it; this was their Uchiha "Manipulated Shuriken Technique." He had no time to be surprised at why the man before him knew an Uchiha secret technique.
He tried to throw two more shuriken, but this time, the unpredictable trajectory caused his two shuriken to miss.
Four shuriken! Arcing trajectories!
