Background / History

Bo Saixi awakened the rare Sea God Martial Soul with Innate Soul Power at level 20. Though widely considered an ideal candidate for the Sea God’s succession, she received the Sea God’s Eight Trials rather than the true Nine Trials. She ultimately reached Rank 99 and ruled Sea God Island for nearly a century. Her fate as Grand Pontiff was tied to opening the path for a future Sea God successor, even at the cost of her own life. 9 127

When Ye Qing received the Sea God’s inheritance despite possessing a Seraphim Martial Soul, Bo Saixi accepted the Sea God’s will and brought him to Sea God Hall. She named him the Holy Son of Sea God Island, placed his status above all island residents—including herself—and directed him to cultivate for the Sea God’s trials. 2 3

After receiving the Sea God’s orders to prioritize Ye Qing’s growth, Bo Saixi supported his journey to the mainland to retrieve the Heart of the Sea God. Unable to leave Sea God Island because she had to deter the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King, she assigned Sea Dragon Douluo as Ye Qing’s protector instead. 5 6 7

Tang Hao later arrived at Sea God Island with accusations against the Angel God and a proposal for an alliance with the Clear Sky Sect. Bo Saixi listened cautiously, refused to commit Sea God Island on her own authority, and relayed the matter to Poseidon. When the gods ordered Tang Hao dealt with, she initially pleaded for exile; after learning through Qian Daoliu’s letter that Tang Hao had robbed and injured Sea God Island’s people and indirectly exposed Ye Qing to the Angel God, her sympathy became anger. She ultimately killed Tang Hao, whose body was fed to the fish. 105 107 113 120

Six years after Ye Qing’s departure, Bo Saixi received him upon his return to Sea God Island. Furious over Sea Dragon Douluo’s failures and their consequences for Ye Qing and the Sea God, she sent Sea Dragon to Raging Tide Desolation for punishment and reflection. 121 122

The Heart of the Sea God’s return and fusion with the Sea God Trident reaffirmed Ye Qing’s status as the Sea God’s successor. Although Bo Saixi continued to revere the Sea God’s will, she became increasingly unwilling to accept the sacrifice expected of her at the end of Ye Qing’s inheritance. 123 124 127 130

Bo Saixi eventually entered a romantic relationship with Ye Qing after he told her that he preferred her to the Angel God. Once the Sea God Trident’s divine consciousness could safeguard Sea God Island, she was able to leave the island and accompany Ye Qing and Ah Yin to the mainland. 141 142

Bo Saixi is a tall, graceful woman whose appearance remains at its peak despite being over a hundred years old. She has sea-blue hair that falls to her waist, sea-blue eyes, and an imposing yet serene presence associated with the ocean and Sea God Island. 103 105

As Grand Pontiff, she is composed, authoritative, and politically cautious. She does not commit Sea God Island to Tang Hao’s proposed alliance with the Clear Sky Sect, instead deferring a divine matter to Poseidon. Her caution comes from a realistic understanding of Sea God Island’s limitations away from the sea and the danger posed by the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King. 107
