Background / History

Shu Mountain was founded by the Changmei Ancestor nearly a thousand years before the current events. Its legacy includes the forging of the Purple and Azure Twin Swords, the production of numerous prominent cultivators, and the organization of three Emei Sword Competitions that rallied Daoist sects across the world. Its prominence once surpassed even Kunlun's. 29

Changmei developed Shu Mountain's defining sword path by combining ancient sword cultivation with Primordial Spirit grafting, creating the technique known as the unity between man and sword. 39

During Xuan Yuan Dharma King's ancient campaign to place the Yao race above humanity, Changmei gathered cultivators from across the world for three battles at Shu Mountain. He ultimately trapped Xuan Yuan in the Two Elements Dust Formation and slew him with the Purple and Azure Twin Swords, contributing to the Yao race's decline. 45

The sect is known for deep reserves of magical materials, elixirs, and powerful flying swords. Its elders reserve imitation Purple and Azure Twin Swords—made from scarce Prime Gold of Taiyi—for exceptional disciples or those with influential backgrounds. 1

Soaring Sword Qi Art

Shu Mountain's core sword-cultivation method uses a flying sword as a medium to communicate with heaven and earth and absorb spiritual energy. Higher-quality swords accelerate cultivation substantially. 1

• Zhao Liang and his junior sister reached the middle Qi Induction stage within roughly a decade through this method. 1
• Zhou Qing's stolen copy only contained methods through the Qi Induction stage, without the Primordial Spirit-condensation methods needed for later advancement. 39

Changmei's signature technique merges the cultivator and flying sword into one existence: the self becomes the sword, and the sword becomes the self. 39

Theft of Zhao Liang's Treasures

Daoist Ling Yun, Zhou Qing's master, was mortally wounded after clashing with Shu Mountain disciples over a Yellow Cloud Crystal. Zhou Qing later ambushed the injured Zhao Liang, took the Azure Lock Sword, Violet Firmament Sword, and Soaring Sword Qi Art, then used the stolen sword method to advance his own cultivation. 1

A Shu Mountain cultivator investigated Zhou Qing's lightning-struck cultivation site after learning that Zhao Liang's flying swords and cultivation mantra had been stolen. 4

Monster Alliance Incident

Liao Xiaojin's use of the Soaring Sword Qi Art causes the Eight Extremes Wolf King to mistake him for a Shu Mountain disciple. The Wolf King initially hesitates to attack because Shu Mountain is powerful and its elders are known to protect their own. 13

Xiang Hui and three fellow Shu Mountain disciples enter the Monster Alliance conflict intending to exploit its internal strife, seize treasures and monster cores, and kill isolated witnesses. 16 17

The same group later mistakes Zhou Qing and Zhou Chen for monsters. Their clash ends with Zhou Qing's side defeating them, while the sect remains unaware that Zhou Qing is responsible. 21 29 32

Xu Jiankong's Duel and Invitation

Xu Jiankong challenges Kunlun's Ling Fei to a sword duel in defense of Shu Mountain's reputation. Their contest escalates until Xu uses the unity between man and sword technique, forcing Zhou Qing to intervene before either cultivator is seriously harmed. 38 39 40

Believing Zhou Qing to be a powerful overseas independent cultivator, Xu Jiankong attempts to recruit his favor. He gives Zhou Qing a Shu Mountain token and invites him to visit the sect, unaware that Zhou Qing has been using stolen Shu Mountain techniques and concealing his history with the sect. 41 42
