Background / History

Ling Fei is regarded as Kunlun’s most outstanding disciple in three hundred years. His reputation as the “God Sword” rests on both his sword cultivation and his field record: he is credited with killing two of the Black Dragon Society’s four elite infiltrating ninjas, maiming the other two, and slaying a three-hundred-year-old bear spirit alone. 12

As Dragon Group Leader, Ling Fei oversaw the induction of recruits from influential families. He demanded absolute obedience from new members and demonstrated enough pressure through his aura to suppress disciples whose cultivation had reached mid-Qi Induction. 12

A crisis involving four missing Dragon Group members and the death of Daoist Chen Kong led Director Zhang to remove Ling Fei from command. Ling Fei is conscious of Kunlun’s prestige and treats its reputation as a personal responsibility. He accepts Xu Jiankong’s challenge rather than appear evasive, believing that a defeat would damage Kunlun’s standing even if it harmed only himself. 38

His experience as Dragon Group Leader makes him adaptable in conversation and cautious around unknown cultivators. After Zhou Qing interrupts his duel with Xu Jiankong, Ling Fei quickly recognizes the value of avoiding further conflict and attempts to recruit the apparent overseas cultivator for his own investigation. 40 41
