And so, led by the orc, Solam swaggered toward the granary. The only slight inconvenience was that other orcs kept rushing over for no apparent reason, trying to kill the orc leading Solam.
These orcs had completely worked themselves into a frenzy. They no longer cared whether someone was an enemy or not—if they saw someone, they hacked at them!
In the end, Solam got annoyed and simply used Mass Suggestion to control a group of orcs. Even if one got hacked to death, there were still others. Someone would eventually lead him to the granary.
After losing more than thirty controlled orcs, Solam finally arrived at the Black Orcs' granary.
Solam surveyed the terrain around the granary. The entire storage area was protected by rows of fences made from enormous logs, enclosing nearly three hectares of land. Inside stood hundreds of huge tents, all piled full of food. This should have been one of the most important locations in the orc camp, yet after looking around for a long while, Solam found not a single guard. He had no idea whether the Black Orcs were naturally so thick-skinned that they never worried about anyone raiding their granary, or whether the guards had all gone off to fight.
The food came from a vast and varied range of sources. There were military rations looted from humans, food stolen from civilians, and Solam even spotted quite a few dried carcasses of rats, snakes, bats, and similar animals.
In short, the orcs' management methods were unbelievably crude. Everything had been thrown together in a chaotic mess, with no proper storage whatsoever. It was simply piled on the ground without even the most basic
