Karzarano regarded this newly risen powerhouse of the Abyss warily and chose his words carefully.
Abyssal dragons were arrogant, but they were not stupid. No matter how arrogant they were, they would give the strong the treatment they deserved—even if that "proper treatment" still carried a somewhat condescending tone. Karzarano was a perfect example. Though he acknowledged Solam's strength, he still refused to speak to him in a more gentle or humble manner. It was not that he did not want to; he simply did not know how!
Solam did not care much. He was not exactly generous, but he was not petty enough to argue with a dead man... That was right. From the very beginning, Solam had never intended to spare this Abyssal dragon.
Solam gave Karzarano a broad smile. "I'm his boss!"
For a moment, Karzarano did not understand what this so-called "boss" was, because demons had a word for leader, but no word for boss. However, when Solam said it, he had merely split the Abyssal word for leader and reversed it. Karzarano therefore immediately understood what Solam meant.
"You... him... How is that possible?!"
Although Karzarano spent most of his time asleep in the lava lake beneath his cavern, his mind had not turned to mush. As far as he remembered, Gab Newell should have had no connection to Kardum—or rather, to the current Solam!
Before Solam had revealed his name, Karzarano had always believed that Solam was Malcanthet's subordinate.
