They might have been insane, but they still knew what to fear. Their homes were about to be taken—what the hell was there left to fight for?

In truth, Malcanthet had fooled the entire Abyss. She had never intended to attack the Nightmare Abyss, because that plane was far too bizarre. Aside from Obox-ob, no one could move through it as freely as a fish in water. Her offensive had merely been for show. Her true aim was to wait for Obox-ob to return to reinforce his domain, then strike him midway while she was fresh and rested!
She had dealt Obox a brutal blow on his way back!
She swallowed Obox-ob's army whole in one bite. Unfortunately, she still failed to keep Obox himself, allowing him to fight his way back into the Nightmare Abyss. All she could do was stare helplessly at that unfathomably eerie land of nightmares. She truly had no confidence in breaking in and killing him there; eliminating him outside the Nightmare Abyss would have been ideal.
Faced with this situation, Malcanthet missed Solam terribly. She simply lacked the power to settle matters with a single decisive blow. She needed an ally like Miska the Wolf-Spider—or perhaps a lover? In any case, this once again confirmed that Malcanthet was determined to have Solam. It was hard to get by without a dependable enforcer.
