After thinking for a long time, Solam finally made up his mind under Mystra's urging.
"I'll figure something out, but you should know what kind of hellhole the Well of Darkness is. There's no way I can do this alone, so you'll have to give me the necessary help!" Solam had already decided whom to ask for assistance.
"Help? What kind of help?" Mystra asked curiously. She had not held much hope that Solam could rescue someone from a place like the Well of Darkness. Just as Solam had said, that place was truly bizarre and sinister. Yet Solam had agreed so readily, which made Mystra very curious.
"The bindings of the Well of Darkness are extremely difficult to break. My power alone won't be enough. The Well of Darkness was originally built to imprison demons, so it naturally suppresses me. I need someone to assist me—at the very least, a deity!" As he spoke, Solam turned his gaze toward Mystra. His meaning could not have been clearer: he wanted Mystra to act personally.
Only the power of a lawful good deity could restrain the Well of Darkness's strange and treacherous nature. And of the gods Solam knew and could find, Mystra was the only one before him. Besides, Queen Laeral Silverhand was her Chosen, so asking Mystra for help was perfectly justified.
Unfortunately, Mystra did not see it that way! As had been said before, although Mystra was powerful, that was only in places covered by the Weave. In other words, once she left Faerûn, Mystra was not all that formidable. Likewise, because of her divine portfolio over the Weave, she was forever a tempting prize in the eyes of evil gods and demons. That was also why the Goddess of Magic had changed three times.
