The will of the Abyss was indescribable and inexplicable. Many people knew such a thing existed, yet no one could describe it accurately. In short, it was exceedingly mysterious. If Solam had not directly received the will of the Abyss, he might never have sensed its existence at all.
Yet the Queen of Chaos could accurately state what the will of the Abyss expected from Solam. That was remarkable. After all, Solam had never spoken of the will of the Abyss to anyone except his son and Queen Laeral Silverhand. If the Queen of Chaos knew, there was only one possibility: she, too, could come into contact with the will of the Abyss.
Fortunately, the Queen of Chaos had not completely guessed what Solam intended to do. In return for the Abyss's favor, Solam had to offer something that would satisfy its will: the Blood War. The Queen of Chaos had guessed that part correctly. What she had truly gotten wrong was that Solam was not merely a demon.
If he had been only a demon, the Blood War would have consumed a lifetime of his efforts. No one could end the Blood War—not Demogorgon, nor Asmodeus. That was why the Queen of Chaos had decided to support Solam. She knew Solam was no threat to her. Once he sank into the quagmire of the Blood War, he would never climb back out!
But the Queen of Chaos had never considered that Solam was not a demon at all. Or rather, no one could possibly have imagined it. To Solam, the Blood War was merely a stepping stone. Once he achieved his goal, he would leave immediately. So no matter what Solam promised, he would definitely break his word when the time came!
