The Shadowmoon Dire Wolves Legion, like most demon legions, was composed entirely of wild demons. Its members came from extremely diverse backgrounds: some were elites Horus had selected from the large legions directly under Solam's command, some were wild demons recruited from the wilderness, and many were demons who had come to surrender.

(This so-called large legion was nominally Solam's direct force, but Solam had never really commanded it himself. He usually left it to his sons to manage, handling it in a highly casual manner. So while it appeared to be Solam's direct legion, it actually had the weakest combat power and the worst organization. It was only large in scale.)

This makeup should have doomed the so-called legion to be as chaotic and disorderly as the forces of other demon lords. Yet in Horus's hands, the legion changed by the day.
