To be honest, this "Oghma's Book of Changes" was nothing extraordinary. If not for its final transformation into the Sage's Staff, this spellbook would at most count as a legendary item—and not even a top-tier one, at least not for Solam. Besides, Solam had encountered a similar magic item before, in Athkatla.

Back when Solam and the people of Athkatla had joined forces to suppress the sewer seal, the legendary mage Osvid had carelessly gotten himself killed by Alfred while facing him. Solam had seized his relics at the time, but Osvid later bought them back. When Osvid redeemed his "relics," he had produced a similar spellbook with roughly the same functions. It simply was not as powerful as this one.

Solam had initially been quite interested in that spellbook, but its value for the price had been too poor, so he eventually forgot about it. Later, he simply gave it as a gift to Lilith, who was "studying abroad" in Silverymoon. In fact, if he had not seen Oghma's Book of Changes today, Solam would not even have remembered that he had once possessed something similar.

It looked impressive, but it was not particularly useful in practice—at least, not to Solam.

This Oghma's Book of Changes was much the same. Many of its transformations were equally useless to Solam, except for the final one—the Sage's Staff.

Solam did not even know
