Alfred instinctively sensed that Solam could restrain him—perhaps even kill him! The realization shocked Alfred to the core. He had thought that, after awakening this time, he would fear no one but the gods. Yet blow after blow had struck him. First, Tyr's manifestation had nearly scared him into wetting himself, then a legendary mage had given him a thorough beating. He had truly learned what the real world was.
Yet none of that compared to the shock Solam had given him! This guy could kill him!!!!
Of course, this was all Alfred's own speculation and intuition; there was no conclusive evidence. That Annihilation Slash could indeed harm him, but harming and killing were entirely different matters. Take Disintegrate, for example—he still did not understand why he had had such an absurd intuition. Perhaps, deep down, he still did not believe that a mortal capable of truly killing him existed in this world.
That was why he hesitated. If he had known that Solam truly possessed something that could kill him, he might have killed Solam without regard for the consequences, even if it meant being sealed away. For vampires, staying alive was what mattered most. Even if he were sealed, he would still have a chance to escape one day. But if he died, then there would truly be nothing left!
For that reason, Alfred had no mood to fight Solam to the death. Though he knew Solam was up to something, he could not spare the attention for it now. In his mind, as long as he escaped, he would have plenty of chances to settle things with Solam later. Why dwell on the present?
With that thought, Alfred did not even have time to ask what Annihilation Slash was. While everyone else listened intently to Solam's rambling,
