History
The Reincarnation Game first draws Yuki Sorajima into a hidden passage and instructs him to complete a Newbie Tutorial with a countdown. Its voice is described as a synthesis of countless people. 1 3
After Yuki clears the tutorial with an S completion, the Game unlocks his Personal Panel. It provides little conventional mission guidance, requiring Players to infer rules, threats, and objectives for themselves. 3
During the Bloodthirsty Red Moon Dungeon, the Game's treatment of Yuki becomes abnormal after his Ego Trait awakens. Yuki concludes that it is attempting to erase him, though it cannot intervene directly or violate its own framework by simply deploying an overwhelming enemy. 43
As Yuki reaches the Reincarnation Crossroads and Borderlands, he learns that the Game has layered social structures: closed worlds, Outposts, and the Borderlands. His own faction's direct transition past the usual Outpost stage is considered highly irregular. 218 219 220
Later investigations lead Yuki to view the Reincarnation Game as a selection mechanism that pressures Players into becoming “Reincarnators,” weapons forged through survival, competition, and escalating conflict. The process gradually erodes Players' attachment to their former lives. 359 361
Taiyi's actions damage the Game and demonstrate that worlds can be severed from it. In response, the Game reacts instinctively but sluggishly, while the Grand Judges attempt to use Reincarnation Artifacts to locate Taiyi through reverse resonance. 548
System Mechanics
Player Growth
The Game grants Players Personal Panels that record physical strength, Ego Traits, equipment, items, skills, currencies, and overall evaluations. Its early panels avoid simple numerical stat displays and instead assess Players through qualitative grades. 3
| System | Function |
|---|---|
| Enhancement Points | Enhance an item, equipment, or skill; New Players may also spend them on random draws. 3 |
| Specialization Points | Improve physical attributes or Ego Traits; New Players may also spend them on random draws. 3 |
| Ego Traits | Manifestations of a Player's defining characteristic or desire. 3 |
| Bloodline Items / Skills | Additional growth path unlocked after early Dungeons; may require supporting items or resources to sustain. 60 |
| Chaos Item forging | Enhancement Points can forge materials and items into Chaos Items. 60 369 |
The four principal early growth routes are physical strength, Ego Traits, Chaos Items, and primary skills. Specialization Points primarily support physical strength and Traits, while Enhancement Points primarily support items and skills. 60
Skill ranks progress through Novice, Proficient, Skilled, Excellent, Master, Legendary, and further levels. Transcendental Skills later follow the path Excellent, Master, Legendary, Mythical, and Ego. 3 215
Dungeons and Missions
The Game's Dungeons provide sparse information, few direct explanations, and no apparent novice protection. Players may receive hints, mission names, countdowns, or prompts, but must frequently deduce the actual objectives themselves. 3 8 53
Dungeon difficulty is influenced equally by the Dungeon itself and by the Players participating in it. 63
The Game can assign Players conflicting identities and secret main quests. In the Global Insect Sea mission, Players are divided between Infiltrators and Guardians, with each side pursuing incompatible objectives. 235
- The Game strongly encourages Player-versus-Player conflict and treats Dungeons as tests of courage, combat ability, and intelligence. 96
- Some missions reward killing hostile Players or locating Players of the same identity, while forbidding disclosure of main quests. 287
- Failed Players can be erased; the Game continuously assigns missions, grants rewards, and processes failures across countless active threads. 585
Player Return Cycle
Players enter Dungeons, complete missions under varying prompts, return to fixed coordinates, rest, and then begin another cycle. The Game generally interferes less during return periods, instead relying on established rules. 551
Before reaching an Outpost, Players return to their original worlds after Dungeons. The Reincarnation Game cannot be publicly revealed; violations result in erasure. 497
Locations and Infrastructure
Reincarnation Crossroads
The Reincarnation Crossroads is a neutral exchange zone for Players to trade items and information. It charges 20 points every 24 hours. 218
- Players may not attack one another outside designated areas; violators are erased. 218
- Contracts must be honored or the Game issues punishment. 218
- Its population includes Players with nonhuman bodies, cross-world origins, and varied factions. 218
Outposts
Outposts are the second layer of the Game's structure, where Players from the same faction gather and where the Game's rules replace ordinary social laws. 219
The Game grants local Players considerable authority within their own Outposts and restricts high-level cross-faction interference. 553
- Entering another faction's territory is difficult, even for powerful Players. 553
- Local Players possess suppressive authority advantages. 553
- Epic-grade cross-faction combat attracts Judge oversight. 553
Borderlands
The Borderlands are the third layer, where factions meet beyond their Outposts and conduct trade, recruit allies, and engage in conflict. 219 223
Land ownership in the Borderlands is obtained through special mission rewards. Owned land can generate points, but it is reclaimed when its owner dies. 221
The Borderlands contain markets for Bloodline Objects, Chaos Items, Transcendental Skill materials, summons, contracts, and other high-value resources. 221
Rules and Enforcement
- The Game's rules are enforceable even against powerful entities that exist above individual Dungeons. 179
- It does not necessarily protect Players from death, hostile Dungeons, or other Players. 8
- It may conceal key information in vague prompts or present clues that appear designed to mislead Players. 531
- It can erase Players for prohibited actions, including unauthorized attacks in protected spaces and revealing the Game in certain circumstances. 218 497
- It continuously monitors Player activity through a vast control system that analyzes Outposts, Player histories, missions, and keyword-related information. 585
Reincarnation Items
Reincarnation Items are special artifacts connected to the Game's higher structure. They can link worlds to the Reincarnation Game's main body and resonate with one another. 484 548
- Torch of the Gods — Creates rule-based spaces and resonates with other Reincarnation Items. 484
- Chaos Furnace Flame — A Reincarnation Item acquired by Yuki; records connected to it can be erased or distorted. 549 584
- Demon God Statue — A Reincarnation Item capable of magnifying desire and twisting will. 584
The Grand Judges use the resonance property of Reincarnation Artifacts to search for Taiyi after he disconnects worlds from the Game. 548
Known Limitations and Vulnerabilities
The Game is constrained by its own framework. During its attempt to eliminate Yuki in Bloodthirsty Red Moon, it could intensify the Dungeon's hostility but could not directly intervene or deploy an unrestricted superweapon against him. 43
Taiyi's interference leaves the Game in a damaged, dormant-like state. Its will can still react, but its enormous scale and injuries make its responses slow. 548
A world can be detached from the Reincarnation Game through a process involving Total Annihilation, destruction of the connection point, and Player return. The Game then attempts to pull the severed world back through its remaining links. 583 589
Players caught in the detachment process may choose to leave through different vortexes, while those who wish to remain can resist the return effect. 583
Relationships
- Players — Recruits, tests, rewards, monitors, and gradually assimilates them into its system. 3 359 585
- Grand Judges — Powerful enforcers who act against threats to the Game and oversee high-level conflicts. 548 553
- Taiyi — Major adversary responsible for severing worlds from the Game and exposing its vulnerability to detachment. 548 550
- Reincarnators — Selected high-level products of the Game's survival system, intended for conflicts beyond the ordinary Player stage. 361 585
Trivia
- Its guiding voice is described as sounding like countless people synthesized together. 3
- The Game's interface can overwhelm a human mind with excessive detail rather than offering convenient data summaries. 3
- Yuki compares the Game's selection process to raising poisonous insects in a jar: only the strongest are expected to emerge. 359 553
