Under the expectant gaze of Obito Uchiha, the young woman arched a delicate brow and let out a soft chuckle.
"Heh."
"So, you came to me to dig for dirt."
"What's the matter? Did your girlfriend get stolen?"
Obito Uchiha's expression shifted instantly: "You! How can you say that... I didn't!"
However, the young woman easily saw through the boy's transparent denial.
Her red lips parted as she said lightly: "Get lost~"
Obito Uchiha: "..."
"Bang~" The door was slammed shut once again.
Obito Uchiha felt dejected.
He couldn't understand why he was suffering defeat after defeat.
He had approached two of Nebula Kotetsu's ex-girlfriends in a row, yet he hadn't managed to gather a single piece of useful information.
Could it be that the sample size is too small?
Yes!
That must be it! As long as I find a few more people, I'll definitely be able to find the dirt on Nebula Kotetsu playing with women's feelings!
He pulled himself together and continued toward the next house.
"Knock, knock!" "Hello..." "Bang!"
One house after another.
Obito Uchiha's confidence began to wane.
For some reason, he hadn't succeeded even once.
"Bang!" "Get lost!" These were the cold reactions.
"Sorry, I have nothing to say." These were the ones who were at least polite.
"Hahaha, little brother, you're so funny. Do you believe that if you don't disappear from my sight in three minutes, you'll disappear from the village entirely?" These were the ones with hidden daggers in their smiles.
"Even though we broke up, the memories we shared are still beautiful. There will always be a place for Nebula in my heart."
"I love him."
"Please leave. I won't tell you the dirt you're looking for." These were the ones pouring out their hearts.
"Where did this little brat come from?"
"Even if I broke up with Nebula, I won't let a nasty little brat like you with a belly full of bad intentions get your way. Get lost now, or I'll take action!" These were the ones who looked down on him.
Obito Uchiha's mood grew increasingly low.
He walked along the streets of Konoha like a wilted eggplant, completely devoid of spirit.
The pedestrians on the street were chatting and laughing, but he only found it noisy.
"Why?"
"Why isn't it working?" Obito Uchiha muttered to himself.
He didn't understand.
It wasn't as if there were no students dating at the Ninja Academy.
He had seen plenty of couples break up.
Those who parted on good terms were the minority; more often than not, they slandered each other, competed against each other, and blamed each other.
He had assumed that since Nebula Kotetsu had dated so many girls, collecting dirt on him would be incredibly simple.
Why?
Why were all of his ex-girlfriends keeping their lips sealed, refusing to mention a single word of dirt about him?
This shouldn't be happening!
He couldn't figure it out!
He didn't understand!
"They won't give me a single piece of useful information."
"Are these women's brains broken? Or did Nebula Kotetsu feed them some kind of love potion?"
Obito Uchiha said indignantly.
Without any dirt, how was he supposed to expose him to Rin Nohara... Wait!
On the street, Obito Uchiha suddenly froze in place.
As if a bolt of lightning had flashed through his mind, he abruptly looked up!
"Why must I have dirt on him?"
"As long as I can prove to Rin that Nebula Kotetsu is a complete playboy, a liar who flirts with everyone and toys with people's feelings, won't that be enough?"
"In that case, perhaps I can try a different approach."
He took out his notebook, found the next address, and took off at a sprint.
"Knock, knock, knock!"
"Hello, is Ms. Haruko home?"
The door swung open.
A girl as delicate as a porcelain doll, wearing pajamas and holding a rolling pin, opened the door.
"Who are you!?"
"What do you want?"
Her tone was blunt, but Obito Uchiha didn't mind.
He was only here for information.
"It's like this, Ms. Haruko."
"You and Nebula Kotetsu were once lovers, right?"
"Did you love him very much?"
"Could you tell me some stories about your time together?"
"For instance, how did you meet? Were there any unforgettable, happy moments?"
"What is the most touching thing he ever did for you?"
"Details, I need details!"
After rattling off his questions, Obito Uchiha looked at her expectantly.
At the same time, he secretly gave himself a pat on the back.
Obito, you really are the best!
With all those questions, there wasn't a single word of slander against that damn guy Nebula Kotetsu; this time, it's bound to work!
However, faced with his barrage of questions, the porcelain-doll girl frowned slightly.
She then scrutinized Obito Uchiha carefully.
His sloppy attire, clothes that hadn't been washed in days, a terrible hairstyle, and those goggles covering his eyes.
Her expression shifted, her gaze moving from "puzzled" to "suspicious" to "sudden realization."
Finally, she raised the rolling pin in her hand and, catching Obito Uchiha completely off guard, swung it down hard.
"CLANG!!!"
The blow to his head felt as if it had knocked his very soul out of his body.
Before collapsing, he heard the girl's angry shouting.
"Damn it!"
"Can't finish your daydream, so you came to me to collect material, huh?"
"Disgusting freak!"
"Go ask your mother!"
"SLAM!"
The door slammed shut.
Obito Uchiha felt the searing pain in his forehead as two lines of tears flowed silently down his face.
This wasn't the answer he wanted...
Early the next morning.
Rin Nohara arrived at school early and sat at her desk, lost in thought.
Every so often, her gaze would drift toward Nebula Kotetsu's empty seat, and upon finding it still vacant, she would return to her daze.
"What should I talk to Nebula about today?"
"Should I continue with stitching techniques? Or wound disinfection?"
"Trauma bandaging?"
"Should I ask about the bruises from yesterday first?"
Just as her mind was wandering, a familiar figure came rushing into the classroom in a clumsy, frantic manner.
"Rin!"
Accompanied by the shout, Obito Uchiha dashed excitedly to her side.
"Obito!" Rin Nohara exclaimed in surprise, "What happened to you?!"
At this moment, Obito looked even more disheveled than Nebula Kotetsu had the day before.
He sported a black eye and two bright red palm prints on his face; judging by the blurred edges of the marks, he had been struck more than once.
On top of that, a lump had swollen on his forehead, which even a plaster couldn't hide.
"Don't tell me you went sparring with someone else yesterday, too?"
Obito had expected Rin to ask. He scratched his head awkwardly and said, "Don't ask, Rin."
"It's a long story."
"My injuries aren't important; what I have to tell you is."
Rin looked puzzled: "What is it?"
Obito pulled a notebook from his school bag and slammed it onto the desk in front of Rin with a thud. He leaned in close, his expression earnest.
"Rin."
"Nebula Kotetsu is a scumbag!"
"He's a complete, incorrigible jerk!"
Rin frowned, and a moment later, she said indignantly, "Obi! to!"
"I've told you many times, don't be like this."
"Nebula is our classmate. Even if you don't like him, you shouldn't slander him like that."
Obito grew anxious at once. "Rin!"
"This isn't a matter of slander."
"I can't just watch you get deceived by that guy."
"You have no idea what he's actually thinking!"
"If you trust me, just stay as far away from him as possible."
Seeing that Rin still didn't believe him, he flipped open the notebook on the desk and pushed it toward her.
"If you don't believe me, look!"
"This is the answer I got after running around all night and interviewing over twenty of Nebula Kotetsu's ex-girlfriends."
