Appearance
Blood Race members are humanoid but generally taller and more slender than Humans. Their exposed skin carries a blood-red glow or coloration, and they possess distinct pointed ears. 718 721
- Blood-red skin or glow.
- Long, pointed ears.
- Taller, slimmer builds than the Human Race.
- Blood-colored Escape Lights when using Blood Arts. 1143
- Their outward appearance can be altered to disguise themselves as Humans. 1706
Biology and Bloodline
The Blood Race possess flesh and blood much like Humans: they bleed when wounded and die from severe injuries. Their racial distinction lies primarily in their bloodline, innate Blood Qi, and inherited Blood Arts. 724
- Corrosive Blood Qi — Every Blood Race member possesses intensely corrosive Blood Qi as an innate racial trait. It can corrode Spiritual Power, Spiritual Artifacts, and defensive formations. 720 721 1021
- Blood Crystals — A Blood Crystal forms within a Blood Race member's body. Fellow Blood Race can refine or consume these crystals to improve their cultivation, making internal conflict a major source of advancement. 1009 1830
- Bloodline inheritance — Their bloodline contains inherited knowledge that surfaces as cultivation or bloodline purity rises, including Blood Arts and other racial mysteries. 1648 2296
- Rapid growth — Blood Race are natural cultivators who are born knowing how to cultivate and can advance faster than Humans by consuming Blood Crystals. 1009 1177
- Reproduction — Human women can gestate Blood Fetuses; the offspring are Blood Race. Most Blood Race in the Blood Refining World were born this way. 1011
- Naming custom — Blood Race have no traditional clans or personal naming system. Upon killing their first Human, they take that victim's name. 1010 1161
Society
Rule over the Blood Refining World
In the Blood Refining World, the Blood Race holds absolute dominance. Humans are raised as Blood Food, treated as livestock, cultivation resources, and means of reproducing the Blood Race. Most Humans do not live beyond forty, and many do not even know the Blood Race's true identity, knowing them only as the Sacred Race. 1009 1010 1011
Blood Race cave abodes, blessed lands, grotto-heavens, and sacred lands compete with one another for territory, Humans, and Blood Crystals. This internal strife causes heavy Blood Race casualties, but the dead become resources for the survivors. 1010
Hierarchy and Sacred Nature
Blood Race society is strongly governed by bloodline hierarchy.
- Ordinary Blood Race — The majority of the race; they can cultivate Blood Arts and refine Blood Crystals. 1799
- Sacred Blood lineage / Sacred Seeds — Blood Race who refine Sacred Blood gain Sacred Nature, greater potential, and superior comprehension of Blood Arts. 1153 1785
- Sacred Venerates — Powerful Sacred Seeds who command major Blood Race forces and sacred lands. 1169 1177
- Blood Attendants — Blood Race without Sacred Nature can be bound through Treasure Blood and become naturally loyal to a Blood Lord. 1799 2299
Reverence for Sacred Nature is ingrained in the Blood Race from birth. A superior bloodline can directly suppress weaker Blood Race, drastically reducing their strength and ability to resist. 1177
Abilities & Skills
Blood Arts
Blood Arts are the Blood Race's primary combat methods. They are secretive, versatile, and highly corrosive to spiritual objects, causing the race to rely less on conventional artifacts and defensive formations. 1021 1049
- Blood Arts can corrode defensive Spirit Arrays and Spiritual Artifacts. 1021
- Blood Race generally fight through Blood Arts or close-quarters combat rather than Spiritual Artifacts. 1021
- Their sharp nails can be tempered and used as natural weapons. 1021
Blood River Art
The Blood River Art creates a blood river or blood sea from a user's power.
- Multiple Blood Race can merge their Blood Rivers, expanding the area used to trap and kill enemies. 1040
- A larger merged Blood River increases its overall power but does not directly strengthen its individual users. 1040
- Blood Rivers eventually collapse if sustained too long, diminishing their user's strength. 1041
- The art is vulnerable to superior Sacred Nature, which can suppress or even devour an enemy Blood River. 1143
Blood Escape Art
A high-speed escape technique available to sufficiently strong Blood Race members. 1172
- One of the fastest escape methods under equal cultivation conditions.
- Makes fleeing Blood Race difficult for Human cultivators to pursue. 1172
Blood Resonance Art
A Blood Art used to locate and gather fellow Blood Race members. 1249 1252
- Allows Blood Race groups to assemble quickly across the Primordial Realm.
- Gives the race a major early advantage in the Divine Sea Conflict, where ordinary communication is unreliable. 1244 1252
Sacred Convergence Art
A Blood Art used to suppress Sacred Nature. 1249
- Used by Blood Race to conceal or restrain the pressure produced by Sacred Nature.
- Learned by Lu Ye while infiltrating a Blood Race Blood Sea. 1249
Blood Descent Technique
A mystic art through which a powerful Blood Race member can descend their will into a blood-related descendant. 2598
- Requires a bloodline connection between the user and vessel.
- Can leave the host body's appearance unchanged while replacing the consciousness within. 2598
Blood Puppet Art
A defensive mystic art that lets a Blood Race cultivator prepare a blood-related relative as a substitute to die in their place. 2603
- Requires a close blood relative, such as a parent or child.
- The Blood Puppet must be refined over a long period. 2603
Weaknesses
- Buddhist chants — Strongly shake the minds and spirits of Blood Race members. 721
- Lightning techniques — Deal exceptionally severe damage and possess a major suppressive effect. 721 723
- Fire techniques — Highly lethal, though less restrictive than lightning. 721
- Bloodline suppression — Sacred Nature can suppress weaker Blood Race bloodlines, reducing even high-level cultivators to a fraction of their normal strength. 1143 1177
- Backlash from racial secret arts — Their emergency fusion technique can kill or severely weaken its users. 721
- Reliance on bloodline advantages — The same bloodline hierarchy that grants the Blood Race power makes them especially vulnerable to superior Sacred Nature. 1177
History
The Blood Race invaded Dragon Ascent World through the Heavenly Chasm under Blood Fiend's leadership. Thousands emerged from a sea of blood, intending to establish a Sacrificial Altar and bring about the full descent of the Blood World, which would allow them to plunder Dragon Ascent World's foundation. 718 724
During the fighting at Medicine Valley, the Dragon Ascent cultivators learned of the race's weaknesses to Buddhist chants, lightning, and fire. A group of Blood Race used a desperate racial Secret Technique to turn into flowing blood and merge into a Blood Dragon to escape; nearly a third of the escapees died or failed to recover afterward. 721
Lu Ye later entered the Blood Refining World, where he found a society ruled by the Blood Race and built upon the enslavement of Humans. Through Blood Crystals, Blood Arts, and the suppression granted by Sacred Nature, the Blood Race maintained dominance until the Human Race's counteroffensive. 1009 1041 1169
The Blood Refining World was eventually revealed to have formed from the remains of the Blood Ancestor. The Blood Race's foundational realms were likewise formed from portions of the Blood Ancestor's body, including the body, head, and four limbs. 1694 1823
Relationship with the Human Race
- Blood Food — Blood Race traditionally consume Human blood for cultivation and sustenance, often draining victims dry despite not strictly needing to kill them. 726 1013
- Blood Slaves — Humans may be bound by Blood Slave Seals or raised as cultivators to serve Blood Race masters. 726 1153
- Breeding vessels — Human women are used to gestate Blood Fetuses, with the resulting children inheriting the Blood Race bloodline. 1011
- Enemies of the Crimson Blood Sacred Land — Blood Race forces repeatedly attempted to destroy the Human Race's principal resistance force in the Blood Refining World. 1027 1043
- Infiltration targets — Blood Race have hidden within places such as the Myriad Phenomena Sea, often gathering intelligence while concealing their identity. 1981
Trivia
- The Blood Race considers the underground Blood River its shared “mother,” as it nourishes newborn Blood Race but is lethally dangerous to adults who attempt to re-enter it. 1153
- Blood Race do not form conventional clans in the Blood Refining World because all members trace their origin to the Blood River. 1161
- Their ability to rapidly gather through Blood Resonance Art has historically made them a dominant force in the Primordial Realm's Divine Sea Conflict. 1244 1250
- Blood Race realms possess Ancestral Artifacts that allow them to mobilize realm power for defense. 2063
