Background
Tang San arrives in Tiandou City with Xiao Wu and attends Su Chen's storytelling at Listening Rain Pavilion. Although impressed by the scale of the worlds Su Chen describes, he initially concludes that the storyteller is a fraud and waits for the audience to expose him 1 2.
He recalls a previous life connected to the Tang Sect, whose internal arts and hidden weapons inform his understanding of combat. He considers Yu Xiaogang's martial-soul theories authoritative and repeatedly uses them to dispute Su Chen's accounts of physical cultivation 1 5 6.
Appearance
Tang San is introduced as a handsome young man with calculating eyes. He is later seen in simple blue robes, while subsequent defeats leave him heavily bandaged, disheveled, or disguised beneath a bamboo hat 1 17 31 48.
- Long-term companion of Xiao Wu, who wears a pink dress and scorpion-tail braid 1
- Often conceals weapons within his sleeves 11 46 48
- Sustains severe facial injuries after Su Chen strikes him, including a collapsed cheek and lost teeth 23 30
- His right arm is later crushed and deformed by Su Chen before being restored by Asura Divine Power 49 52
Personality
Tang San is analytical and deeply confident in his own knowledge. He assesses Su Chen's claims through Tang Sect manuals and Yu Xiaogang's theories, treating anything beyond those frameworks as impossible or fraudulent 1 5 6.
His loyalty to Yu Xiaogang and Tang Hao is a defining motivation. He reacts violently to insults against Yu Xiaogang, and Tang Hao's public defeat and auction drive him toward increasingly desperate revenge against Su Chen 9 23 32 46.
He is also calculating and willing to provoke stronger figures into acting for him. He incites Zhao Wuji by claiming that Su Chen demeaned the Vajra Bear martial soul, then later tries to use a poisoned hidden weapon to assassinate Su Chen during a storytelling session 13 17 46 48.

Story Role / Major Arcs
Opposition to the Storyteller
Tang San publicly disputes Su Chen's tales of the Perfect World's physical cultivation, using Yu Xiaogang's theories to argue that children cannot possess extraordinary physical strength without soul power. Su Chen's demonstrations repeatedly undermine Tang San's arguments and leave him increasingly enraged 5 6 7 9 11.
Manipulating Zhao Wuji
After Su Chen humiliates Yu Xiaogang, Tang San deliberately tells Zhao Wuji that Su Chen has insulted the Vajra Bear martial soul. He succeeds in provoking Zhao Wuji into challenging Su Chen, but Su Chen later exposes Tang San's intention to use Zhao Wuji as a weapon 13 17.
Defeat and Tang Hao's Auction
Tang San attacks Su Chen after Yu Xiaogang demands that Su Chen become his disciple. His hidden weapons and movement techniques fail, and Su Chen beats him before throwing him from the pavilion 23.
Tang Hao arrives to avenge his son but is defeated and crippled by Su Chen. Tang San witnesses his father being auctioned to Xue Qinghe and is expelled from Listening Rain Pavilion with the Shrek group 30 31 32 34.
First Assassination Attempt
Believing Su Chen relies on the defenses of Listening Rain Pavilion, Tang San prepares a physical hidden weapon and a lethal poison. Disguised among the audience, he fires a poisoned needle at Su Chen, who catches it effortlessly 46 47 48 49.
Su Chen crushes Tang San's right arm, damages his dantian and Mysterious Heaven Skill, then has him thrown out of the pavilion with Yu Xiaogang and Flender 49.
Asura God's Chosen Pawn
The Asura God restores Tang San and grants him Asura Divine Power and Will in exchange for his agreement to kill Su Chen 52. Tang San returns to Listening Rain Pavilion and launches another poisoned hidden-weapon assault, now empowered by divine force 54.
The Green-Scaled Eagle Cub intercepts the attack, disarms Tang San's Clear Sky Hammer, severely injures him, and suppresses his Asura Divine Power with Bone Script chains 54 55.
