Background

Tang San was Yu Xiaogang's disciple when he entered the Soul Hunting Forest to obtain his first Soul Ring. There, he met Liu Bai, another child Soul Master. Tang San defended Yu Xiaogang's right to question Liu Bai and regarded Liu Bai's refusal to answer an elder as disrespectful, establishing their antagonism from their first encounter 5.

Six years later, Tang San was recognized as the core strategist of the Shrek Seven Devils. Liu Bai warned his own allies that Tang San's seemingly ordinary Blue Silver Grass concealed danger, particularly because of Tang San's hidden weapons, poisons, meticulous planning, and unfamiliar combat methods 75 76.

At Heaven Dou Royal Academy, Tang San publicly challenged the second team to defend Yu Xiaogang's teaching ability. Though he was a Level 33 Soul Elder, he refused to withdraw after learning that his opponent, Dugu Yan, was a Level 56 Soul King. Dugu Yan defeated him with the poison-based Nether Poison Palm, forcing Tang San to confront the gap in their Soul Power 104 105 106.

Tang San later fought Dugu Yan again with unrestricted use of hidden weapons. His evasive tactics, Eight Spider Lances, and Dragon Whisker Needles kept her under pressure, but Liu Bai intercepted the needles and returned them into Tang San's body, leaving him badly injured 129 133 134.

After Tang Hao was critically injured fighting Liu Bai, Tang San learned that his mother was a Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor who had sacrificed herself to protect the family. Tang Hao directed him toward her inheritance, but Liu Bai reached it first, removed the true Blue Silver Emperor and its Soul Bone, and left only ordinary Blue Silver Grass behind 141 142 143.

Following his ascent to godhood, Tang San is described as a white-haired young man with pitch-black eyes carrying a faint blood-red glow. He is often depicted in black robes during his time in Slaughter City 201 293.

Personality

Tang San is proud, competitive, and unwilling to concede defeat—especially to peers. Learning that Liu Bai was the same age yet vastly stronger shocked him, but he still chose to complete his match against Dugu Yan rather than retreat 105.

He is fiercely loyal to Yu Xiaogang and Tang Hao. He challenged Heaven Dou's second team to uphold Yu Xiaogang's teaching, rushed to Tang Hao after his defeat by Liu Bai, and devoted himself to becoming strong enough to save his father and avenge his mother 104 141 142.

Tang San is also tactical and resourceful. He combines the experience of two lifetimes with Tang Sect techniques, hidden weapons, poisons, and mobility skills to compensate for inferior Soul Power 133. However, his later actions are increasingly driven by hatred for Liu Bai and Martial Soul Hall, even after the Asura God warns him against confronting Liu Bai prematurely 263 293.
