Silence.
They had not encountered any danger along the way, but the silence here was so profound that it made their hearts prickle with unease.
Runes grew increasingly brilliant within Su Ye's eyes. Now that he had stepped into the Heavenly Passage realm and his Samsara Eye had further awakened, he could perceive things on a much deeper level. Yet, under his scrutiny, there was truly no danger here—not even the slightest fluctuation of power.
If there were no power fluctuations and no danger, why were they unable to leave?
Indeed, while they had not encountered any threats, they were trapped. They had been walking for a long time—how long, they did not know, for there was no day or night here.
If not for the fact that they were beings of the Heavenly Passage realm, capable of drawing energy from the heavens and earth to sustain their bodies, they would likely have starved to death.
"Bang."
Big Gold Dog shattered a large boulder with one claw. Inside, golden mist radiated, which it promptly swallowed. Its expression was one of pure excitement; golden light flowed through its body, and its aura grew even more powerful.
There were many things here similar to source stones, containing Divine Marrow Treasure Liquid, and in no small quantity. This journey had caused Big Gold Dog to grow a full circle fatter.
Su Ye looked at Big Gold Dog's plump, sturdy frame, crystal-clear drool leaking from the corner of his mouth. While he wouldn't starve to death without food or drink for a while, his mouth had grown so bland it felt like he was going to sprout feathers.
What a sturdy frame.
What succulent, meaty thighs.
Whether stewed in a soup or roasted over a fire, it would be a delicacy.
Su Ye stared at Big Gold Dog, drool constantly dripping, his gaze burning.
At this moment, Big Gold Dog felt a sense of foreboding, sensing intense malice behind it that made its soul tremble. It turned to glare at Su Ye, putting on a brave front as it barked, "What are you doing?"
Although it had consumed quite a bit of Divine Marrow Treasure Liquid and its strength had improved significantly, it still felt it was no match for this brutal human.
"In ancient times, the Buddha offered his flesh to feed the eagle. Today, the Black Emperor shall offer his flesh to me. If this spreads in the future, it will surely be a tale for the ages."
Su Ye said with a smile, his expression radiant as he looked at Big Gold Dog, urging it to offer itself voluntarily.
Upon hearing this, Big Gold Dog's fur stood on end. It really did want to eat him! It roared, "You actually want to eat me? And here I thought of you as my closest kin!"
"You are a dog, I am a human. Where is there any kinship between us?"
"You're the dog! I am a Qilin!"
"I have yet to taste Qilin meat. I imagine it must be delicious."
"I'm not a real Qilin, I'm just a descendant! The meat doesn't taste good, it's sour!"
"If it doesn't taste good, do you even eat yourself? How truly savage."
Su Ye stepped toward Big Gold Dog.
Big Gold Dog retreated continuously, its expression terrified. When it saw him pull out that Big Gold Rod, its panic intensified, and it hurriedly shouted, "I know the way out!"
Su Ye's expression showed no surprise at these words; instead, he said coldly, "You dead dog, you really were hiding it from me."
He had sensed something was wrong a long time ago. This dead dog was far too calm; even after being trapped here for so long, it still ate with gusto and showed no signs of panic.
Big Gold Dog knew it could no longer hide the truth. It pulled a long face and said, "I didn't tell you because at first, I wasn't entirely sure, and I was afraid of leading you astray."
"So, after saying that, am I supposed to thank you?"
Su Ye said with a smile.
"That won't be necessary."
Big Gold Dog glanced at Su Ye fearfully and continued, "While your spirit was wandering beyond the heavens, I found a corpse. On that corpse was a map, and the map depicted certain areas of the Mist Mountains."
As it spoke, it spat out a ball of light from its mouth. Inside the light was an ancient-looking map that appeared to have survived for a very long time.
Su Ye waved his hand, and the map landed before him. Runes surfaced in his eyes as he examined it. He could see that the map was indeed authentic and very old; the markings were sparse, merely describing a few areas in simple terms.
One of those areas was the Sword Sect—the very place they were currently in.
It was marked as having no danger.
"No danger. If there is no danger, why have we been unable to walk out of here this whole time?"
Su Ye asked. Throughout their journey, he had been using the Samsara Eye to scan their surroundings, yet he had never found a path out.
"This is a Boundary Realm. We are currently inside a Boundary Realm. If we want to leave, we can only exit through the Domain Gate."
Big Gold Dog said, then thought of something and added, "Don't tell me you don't know what a Boundary Realm is?"
"Boundary Realm? What is that?"
Su Ye asked. He truly did not know what a Boundary Realm was.
Upon hearing this, Big Gold Dog suddenly realized, inwardly despising him: Where did this country bumpkin come from? He doesn't even know what a Boundary Realm is.
However, it dared not say it aloud, lest it end up in the pot. It explained, "It is a domain. Every major power will set up arrays in their territory to fence off the land as a boundary. If you want to enter or leave, you can only do so through the entrance."
"Otherwise, if anyone could enter from any direction, what secrets would that power have left? And if anyone could just walk in, wouldn't it be easy to attack?"
"This Sword Sect must have been a top-tier orthodoxy. A Boundary Realm isn't just fenced-off land; it forms its own small world. Of course, this isn't a true small world, but a method of spatial layering. From the outside, it doesn't look very large, but once you enter, it is vast—similar to treasures like a Qiankun Bag."
Big Gold Dog did not hold back, explaining in detail to Su Ye, and continued, "Many living beings in the Mist Mountains get swept into another space while walking. It's not always a spatial rift; it's very likely they've entered a place similar to this."
Su Ye suddenly understood. It seemed he knew far too little. He looked at the somewhat smug Big Gold Dog and said, "Since you knew, why didn't you tell me sooner?"
"Bang."
"Bang."
Su Ye gave Big Gold Dog a gentle education and felt much better, then looked at the ancient map in his hand and walked forward.
Big Gold Dog's body had grown another circle fatter, and he followed Su Ye into the depths with a resentful expression, swearing in his heart that once he became powerful, he would definitely take revenge and let the other party know that a Qilin could not be insulted.
With the map, they soon arrived at the depths of the Sword Sect and saw many ancient buildings; although most had collapsed, some remained standing there.
"Scripture Pavilion."
Su Ye's gaze fell upon one of the tower-shaped buildings that had not collapsed, and his eyes immediately burned with intensity.
The Scripture Pavilion was the most important place for any faction, as it housed their most vital scriptures and precious techniques.
Big Gold Dog's eyes also burned as he looked at the Scripture Pavilion, and then, with a "whoosh," he transformed into a streak of golden light and rushed inside.
Su Ye followed closely behind, not in any great hurry; there was no one else here, so what was there to fear about someone else snatching it away? As for Big Gold Dog?
What was his was his, and what was his was still his.
