But that was understandable.
For those veterans, even getting an appointment for subsidized medical care within a year or year and a half was considered fast.
Having an appointment was practically the same as having none. If they had not saved some money and had not gained any real authority, they would most likely struggle to afford medical care or even food after retirement.
Of course, that was relative.
Someone like Xu De, who had at least reached officer rank, still had some security in his retirement benefits.
After all, it was an elitist system—Darwinism.
As long as they saw him as strong, he would naturally receive benefits.
"I understand."
Xu De replied.
"This is to repay the favor of your recognition."
Xu De spoke with open sincerity, making Revil smile as well.
Knowing gratitude and repaying it—on that point alone, Xu De was far better than Blue Cosmos, those people who only knew how to shout incomprehensible grand slogans and send others to their deaths.
"You're giving me too much credit. If not for your own abilities, you wouldn't have made it this far either."
Revil was telling the truth. If Xu De had not performed so well in the Moebius simulator, he would not have stood out from among those hundred people.
Of those hundred, more than sixty had already died. Xu De was the only one who had risen through the ranks.
It was not something Revil's favor alone could have accomplished.
"No, you were still the one who provided the opportunity."
As Xu De spoke, he filled Revil's glass again.
As the two ate and drank, Xu De soon steered the topic toward Le Creuset.
"I heard Le Creuset has already been decorated."
"Le Creuset... where did you hear that name?"
Revil asked with a frown.
