After Namikaze Minato suddenly appeared leading the Konoha Ninja, the Kirigakure side quickly grew hesitant at the sight of their opponent's reputation. Most of the Kirigakure ninja looked extremely tense, beads of cold sweat gathering on their foreheads.
Ever since Minato had made his debut, it seemed no ninja had ever been able to face him alone. Whether it was Kumogakure's AB Duo or Kirigakure's Twin Walls of the Mist, they had only managed to hold him back through teamwork in their previous encounters.
Almost instinctively, every Kirigakure ninja turned their gaze toward Uesugi Shinji, standing at the very front. He was the only reason any of them on the battlefield hadn't turned and fled.
Though Minato's reputation surpassed his own, Shinji showed not the slightest fear. A ninja who had reached his level of strength needed a will to match.
Shinji took a few slow steps forward and stood directly in front of Nohara Rin, making his resolve clear through his actions.
His action gave the Kirigakure ninja the courage to keep fighting, and made his old opponent Minato's killing intent grow even stronger. Kakashi, standing behind Minato, was so furious that he wanted to charge forward, but his teacher held him back with one hand.
"Kakashi, stay calm and wait for the right moment. Remember, you're a Konoha ninja first and foremost!" Minato said gravely.
Kakashi nodded, took a deep breath, and forced himself to rein in his emotions, though he couldn't hide the worry in his eyes. He stared at Rin, hoping to convey with his gaze his determination to rescue her.
