So Uchiha Ensei discussed it with Granny Cat for a long time and paid a considerable price before she agreed to strengthen the seal on the Nine-Tails Chakra.
This wasn't a seal placed on some portable object. It was a fixed seal created by making use of the terrain.
There was no helping it. Whether it was his grasp of Sealing Jutsu, his age, or the knowledge he possessed, Uchiha Ensei simply wasn't capable of studying this Nine-Tails Chakra right now.
So if he didn't want to hand it over, this was the best option.
"This is a ruined place deep in the Empty Zone. Generally speaking, no humans come here, and no Ninja Cats will wander this far, either."

Cursing him under his breath, Uchiha Ensei steeled himself and headed to the vicinity of the Hyuga Clan. He found an opportunity and collected some blood and cells from the clan.

Plan Two: Begin cloning the Byakugan!
While Uchiha Ensei threw himself into his cloning project, in a hidden corner of Konoha, the pale-faced Kushina Uzumaki held Naruto in her arms. She gazed anxiously at Minato Namikaze, who lay on a bed nearby.
"Kushina, there was nothing else we could do. Minato was ambushed by an unknown enemy and suffered serious mental trauma. It'll be very difficult for him to wake up."
"But thanks to the help of the two sages, Fukasaku and Shima, his life shouldn't be in danger."
"As for when he'll wake up, though, it's hard to say."
Jiraiya looked at Minato Namikaze lying in bed, his heart aching.
But the previous night, he'd been busy dealing with the Nine-Tails and Obito Uchiha. He hadn't noticed what that half-black, half-white man had done to Minato Namikaze.
Last night, with the advantage of knowing what was coming, Minato Namikaze had done almost everything he could. He'd not only summoned Jiraiya, but also had Tsunade there to back him up.
But who could have expected a Transformation Jutsu that couldn't be distinguished from the real thing by the Byakugan, the Sharingan, or any of the various detection techniques?
A moment of carelessness had allowed the Nine-Tails to break free of its seal.
Up to that point, things were still manageable. They'd already prepared for the possibility of the Nine-Tails breaking free.
Even though Obito's space-time ocular technique had caused some trouble, it was still easy enough to deal with.
Minato Namikaze had quickly used his extensive experience to keep Obito in check.
If he'd simply killed Obito or captured him, what happened afterward might never have come to pass.
But Minato Namikaze had insisted on saving the lost Obito. The moment Obito Uchiha's identity was exposed, Black Zetsu, who had been hiding in the shadows, quietly struck, launching a sneak attack on Minato Namikaze.
What happened next was simple enough. After an elder jōnin from the Sarutobi Clan volunteered to use the Reaper Death Seal, the Nine-Tails was split in two, with one half sealed inside Kushina and the other inside Naruto.
Jiraiya went to hold off Obito Uchiha, while Minato Namikaze fought Black Zetsu.
Perhaps no one had expected Minato Namikaze to lose, let alone suffer that kind of soul damage that couldn't be healed.
Just like that, although Uchiha Ensei had changed everything, it seemed as if nothing had changed at all.
And under the immense pressure of the looming Night of the Clan Massacre, Uchiha Ensei began his experiments to clone the Byakugan.
Cloning technology from his previous life was actually quite simple: take a specific cell nucleus and an egg cell, transfer them into an embryo, and let it develop through the normal process.
In a sense, this didn't count as cloning. It was simply letting an individual with the same genes develop all over again.
In the Shinobi World, the existence of Chakra changed many of the steps.
Were the cells not growing fast enough? A little Chakra would take care of that.
Were the cells developing in the wrong direction? A little Chakra could guide their development.
Had the cells developed the wrong way? Chakra... No, that wouldn't work. He could just record the results of the experiment and throw them away.
After some time and effort, Uchiha Ensei successfully cloned a white eyeball.
But this was only a basic Byakugan, roughly like the eyes of a newborn from the Hyuga Clan.
Though awakening the Byakugan was relatively easy, it still required a process.
To speed up the Byakugan's development and simulate the awakening process, Uchiha Ensei had no choice but to deepen his testing and study of Chakra.
Naturally, this in-depth research into Chakra also led to quite a few unexpected incidents.
