Background / History
Thor met Hong at the beginning of the Great Nirvana era. They supported one another as they rose from weakness into humanity's strongest warriors, maintaining their friendship even after their organizations became fierce competitors 94.
During humanity's struggle against the monsters, Thor founded the Thunder Martial Arts Hall to cultivate more martial artists and powerful defenders. Its purpose was to help humanity resist the Wilderness Zone's monsters and eventually reclaim its lost territory—not simply accumulate power or fame 105.
The Thunder Martial Arts Hall developed into one of Earth's two great martial organizations, only somewhat weaker than Hong's Extreme Martial Arts Hall. Each leader occupied a base city, and their halls spread worldwide with influence comparable to a major nation. Their institutional rivalry extended from ordinary members to the Hall Masters themselves, but remained controlled 85 94 107.
Appearance
Thor is a bald, middle-aged man commonly seen in long white robes. His gentle eyes and smiling expression make him appear more approachable than Hong, though his presence still carries intimidating authority 94 96 121.
- Bald head: Frequently becomes the subject of affectionate teasing from Luo Zhe and Hong 122 131.
- Buddha-like expression: His kindly smile is repeatedly compared to that of a Maitreya Buddha 96.
- Combat presence: Electricity briefly flickers across his body when his power breaks into Hong's darkened atmosphere 95.
Personality
Thor is cheerful, outspoken, and mischievous, contrasting with Hong's reserve. He teases Hong about his wealth, bargains over valuable equipment, and readily joins Luo Zhe in a scheme to win a fighter jet from him. His informality extends to lounging with his feet on another chair during a War God Palace meeting 94 121 131.
His complaints about money and gifts often conceal genuine concern. He equips Luo Zhe with weapons, cultivation resources, and protective clothing while claiming that a weak or dead prospective disciple would embarrass him. Before the beast-emperor hunt, he explicitly tells Luo Zhe that losing the blade is acceptable as long as he returns safely 102 134 135.
Despite his established reputation, Thor continues cultivating seriously. He wants to develop a domain and finally overcome Hong, and Luo Zhe's rapid growth makes him anxious about slipping from second to third place among Earth's strongest fighters 106 122 131.
Abilities & Skills
Nine-Fold Thunder Blade
Thor created the Nine-Fold Thunder Blade, one of Earth's two strongest martial manuals. It combines blade techniques, movement techniques, and an accompanying Guidance Technique 13 35 94.
- Force amplification: Successive folds add hidden bursts of force; complete mastery allows a strike to deliver seven times the body's original strength 35.
- Complete mastery: Thor is the only practitioner explicitly confirmed to have mastered all nine folds 80.
- Fine control: He can repeatedly accelerate and slow his blade while connecting each strike seamlessly to the next 96.
- Teaching precision: During Luo Zhe's enlightenment, he redirects every slash so that neither blade qi nor blade wind reaches the trainee 97.
- Cosmic standing: Although exceptional on Earth, the technique is considered relatively elementary among the wider universe's fighter combat secret techniques 163.
Physical Strength, Speed, and Reactions
Thor is renowned as Earth's foremost warrior in physical strength and speed, despite ranking below Hong in overall combat ability 94.
- Easily evades Luo Zhe's successive fourth-fold attacks with small, casual steps 97.
- Possesses the physical ability and reaction speed to seize Luo Zhe's attacking blade barehanded, though he chooses not to retaliate 97.
- Can casually kill ordinary King-level monsters on land 134.
- Is among the few Earth-born Planetary Level warriors capable of surviving directly under a thousand times Earth's gravity 162.
Martial Realms and Internal Martial Arts
Thor is proficient in Chinese internal martial arts and credits its realm-based guidance with helping his cultivation. He and Hong teach Luo Zhe about Basic techniques, Artistic Conception, unity of heaven and man, and domains 122.
- Can assess Luo Zhe's blade technique as having reached major completion in Artistic Conception 132.
- Has not mastered a domain in the documented encounters; he hopes sparring with Luo Zhe will help him achieve one 122.
- Remains weaker than Hong because Hong's domain compensates for Thor's superior cultivation tier, physical strength, and force exertion 154.
- Is not a Spirit Reader and cannot explain Luo Zhe's unusual fusion of spiritual power and Genetic Origin Energy 122.
Combat Limitations
- Underwater disadvantage: Seawater weakens human fighters while favoring the monster emperors, preventing Thor and Hong from reliably killing them in their own territory 134.
- Monster physiques: The beast emperors surpass both men in raw physical strength 134.
- Coordinated enemies: King-level monsters become dangerous distractions when supported by an emperor underwater 134.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Combat sabers: Uses standard-shaped battle sabers and keeps multiple replacements. He repeatedly supplies Luo Zhe with additional blades 96 132 134.
- SS-class Combat Suit: Gives his own suit to Luo Zhe before the Thunder Dragon Emperor battle to improve his chances of surviving an impact 135.
- Flying fighter jet: Owns an intelligent, circular flying-saucer model capable of Mach 13. It requires no hired pilot and can outrun ordinary King-level monsters 131.
- Ancient civilization gravity chambers: Obtained two chambers from Hong, prompting Hong to complain about Thor taking valuable equipment without compensation 94.
- Auxiliary light computer: Uses ancient-civilization technology to examine Luo Zhe's attack-power measurements 132.
Relationships
- Hong — Closest friend, longtime ally, and competitive rival since the beginning of the Great Nirvana era. Thor calls him “Brother Hong”; their halls' rivalry never damages their personal bond 94.
- Luo Zhe — Prospective personal disciple who instead becomes a younger-brother-like friend and fellow defender of Earth. Their formal master–disciple arrangement is declined, but Thor continues supplying equipment, guidance, and protection 106 121 134 135.
- Luo Feng — Fellow participant in the effort to secure Earth's legal ownership. Thor follows his stalled purchase application and reports its difficulties to Xiao Qi 213.
- Xiao Qi — Cooperates with Thor and Hong during the Nolan Shan Family's arrival, warning them that Earth's ownership must be secured immediately 213.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Attempt to Recruit Luo Zhe
After hearing that Luo Zhe mastered the third fold of his technique in only three months, Thor visits Hong to assess the young fighter. His demonstration helps Luo Zhe enter sudden enlightenment and attain the fourth fold. Thor accommodates the resulting attacks rather than interrupting him, and catches Luo Zhe when he eventually loses consciousness 94 96 97.
Thor plans a grand disciple-acceptance ceremony with witnesses from the world's major factions. Before any formal acceptance, he sends Luo Zhe a substantial gift package 98 102:
- 10 billion Huaxia Currency for combat clothing.
- Three custom Nine-Fold Thunder Blades, made from different materials for the beginner, intermediate, and advanced War God stages.
- The complete Nine-Fold Thunder Blade manual and accompanying discs.
- Ten-Thousand-Year Fo-Ti, a Plant Spirit that greatly strengthens Luo Zhe's body.
Hong later agrees to help Luo Zhe decline the discipleship. Luo Zhe chooses to become a Free Warrior, while privately acknowledging that Thor has already treated him like a disciple 106.
Welcoming a New Peer
When Luo Zhe becomes the War God Palace's fifty-second councilor, Thor welcomes him enthusiastically. Their conversation shifts the relationship toward equality: Luo Zhe jokingly reclassifies Thor's disciple gift as a present from an older brother 121.
Thor and Hong explain the wider universe's cultivation hierarchy and urge Luo Zhe to continue improving. After Luo Zhe reaches Planetary Level, the three test his strength; Thor is astonished by his physical power and the threat posed by his ultimate blade technique 122 131 132.
Hunting the Beast Emperors
Thor joins the Mariana Trench operation against the Eight-Clawed Beast Emperor and Thunder Dragon Emperor. His assignment is to draw away the Eight-Clawed Beast Emperor and supporting monsters while Hong and Luo Zhe attack the Thunder Dragon Emperor 134.
Before battle, Thor gives Luo Zhe another blade and his own SS-class Combat Suit. His target ultimately escapes under cover from King-level monsters, and the hunt is interrupted by news of an approaching asteroid 134 135 137.
Asteroid Crisis
Thor helps plan humanity's interception response, proposing that larger remnants be destroyed in space while national surface-to-air missile systems handle the remainder. Hong accepts the proposal as feasible 139.
He later joins Earth's strongest fighters in preparing to confront a near-lightspeed planetary fragment. The fragment vanishes before impact, leaving Earth unharmed 142.
Earth's Ownership Crisis
When the Nolan Shan Family's vanguard reaches Earth, Thor and Hong confer with Xiao Qi through the Virtual Universe. Thor reports that officials on Biyan Star are delaying Luo Feng's application to purchase Earth, while Luo Feng seeks assistance through the Weidi Family 213.
