Suddenly—
An Changyan's voice erupted from his communication light-brain, urgent and laced with the low growls of beasts and the clashing of blades.
"We're under attack! It's a swarm of unknown creatures! There are so many of them!"
Chen Beixun abruptly veered his direction, the long white staff on his back scraping against the stone walls of the tunnel due to its length.
Skree—
A sound like claws dragging across a chalkboard echoed through the corridor, shrill and piercing!
BOOM!
Chen Beixun stomped hard on the Gold Cloud Shuttle, white mist exploding around him as a white blur shot out from the fog, vanishing in an instant.
"Hold on! Retreat to the original starting point!" Chen Beixun roared into his communication light-brain.
Meanwhile...
*******
"Endless, aren't they!" Moluo gripped his battle-axe, his eyes wide like a furious Vajra.
Moluo shifted his body, dodging a lunging wolf-like creature, and raised his battle-axe high, bringing it down with boundless fury.
It slammed heavily into the creature's head.
In an instant, viscous gore splattered from the wolf-like creature's skull.
Suddenly—
Eerie blue phosphorus flames ignited in the darkness, and with their flickering light, one could finally glimpse these ancient, abominable, and fading strange species.
These creatures were grotesque; some looked like a fusion of deer and fish, while others resembled two wolves fused back-to-back with an octopus—even more bizarre than the offspring of Crete and Pasiphae.
The monsters hissed, restless in the shifting light and shadow.
The group stood at the lower part of the stairs, while the swarm of monsters occupied the upper section.
"Universe Level 3, Universe Level 7..."
"Was this World Lord a breeder in the past? Why make so many!" An Changyan remarked.
Viscous blood flowed down the stairs, mixed with bits of flesh and gore, nauseating to behold.
"Disgusting!" An Changyan stepped back in revulsion. A raw, ghastly wound ran from her earlobe to her cheek; the pain and the blood spreading near her feet left her incredibly irritable.
Normally, the recovery speed of a Universe Level powerhouse would heal anything short of a mortal wound in moments.
However, the healing speed of An Changyan's wound was absurdly slow, as if some substance was obstructing it.
"We've killed so many, these things finally don't dare to get close," a guard said.
An Changyan glanced at the guard and immediately ordered, "Fall back to the starting point!"
"A few of you, stay and cover the rear with me!" Moluo commanded.
Suddenly—a sound like liquid splashing erupted, followed by the movement of those monsters in the dark, surging forward like a tidal wave.
"Damn it!"
The group braced themselves, realizing these creatures were emerging from the darkness, both front and back.
From behind An Changyan, 27 small golden swords flew out from her dark gold staff, forming three golden phantom swords.
Gold, the essence of hardness and yang!
Brilliant, dazzling golden streams of light pierced wantonly through the darkness, stirring up waves of blood.
Their tactics were simple: the Controllers would lead the attack, while the Warriors formed a circle to protect them.
"There are too many!" a gaunt Controller shouted.
Without large-scale area-of-effect weapons, they were quite powerless against these monsters using human-wave tactics!
An Changyan frowned slightly.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
Another 27 small golden swords flew out from behind her.
The second stage of the Sky Piercing Style required nine phantom swords to form a true sword; its difficulty was a hundred, even a thousand times greater than the first.
An Changyan could currently execute the second stage of the Sky Piercing Style, but her level of control still needed honing.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
Yet another 27 small golden swords flew out from behind her.
Under An Changyan's exquisite control, the nine phantom swords condensed into a single, true golden sword!
BOOM!
A golden sword-rainbow pierced through the darkness, invincible and sweeping!
The Yan God Weapon was incredibly difficult to master; attempting to learn it in a short time was extremely arduous. For a Star Level to manifest even two swords was already considered the peak among their peers in the Universe Kingdom.
An Changyan's eyes were stained a blood-red. She gritted her teeth, persisting and exerting every ounce of her strength to control it, her wound tearing open from the strain and bubbling with fresh blood.
"Chen Beixun, hurry, I really can't hold on any longer!" An Changyan prayed over and over in her heart.
This level of attack consumed an immense amount of mental energy; no one could withstand such a drain for long. An Changyan was nearing her limit, her complexion turning visibly pale.
Yet, she persisted.
"Your Highness!"
Seeing this, the guards around An Changyan were deeply moved, each roaring as they unleashed their full strength.
In the face of life and death, they were already frantic, and with this encouragement, they erupted with even more formidable power.
BOOM!
A sound like the heavens collapsing and the earth splitting erupted!
Streaks of scarlet vines shot forth, sweeping through the monsters in the darkness as if entering an empty realm. Every strike felt like the earth itself was shaking!
"Demon Island Vine!"
The crowd was overjoyed, their morale surging instantly!
"You're here." An Changyan collapsed as soon as she spoke, tears in the corners of her eyes—whether from the relief of surviving or something else, she did not know.
"Your Highness!" The surrounding guards were frantic with worry.
Swish!
A figure suddenly darted out.
"Fainted?!" Chen Beixun crouched down, took a small bottle containing a special powder from his spatial ring, and sprinkled it onto An Changyan's wounds.
"AAAHHH!!" An Changyan shrieked in agony, clawing desperately at her face.
Chen Beixun quickly restrained her hands, comforting her incessantly: "Bear with it! It will be over soon!"
"Painkiller!" Chen Beixun searched through his spatial ring in a panic.
"Damn it, I forgot, I never use painkillers!"
"I don't have any!" Chen Beixun pulled An Changyan into his arms and shouted to the others: "Does anyone have a painkiller!"
"Wuu! Wuu!" An Changyan whimpered in extreme pain, her legs kicking wildly.
"I have a painkiller!" A tall guard handed a black pill to Chen Beixun.
Chen Beixun scanned it with his mental energy, confirmed it, took the pill, crushed it into powder, and sprinkled it onto An Changyan's wounds.
"Huu~~" An Changyan half-closed her eyes, gasping for air.
"It works quite fast!" Chen Beixun was overjoyed, then said, "Alright, prepare to retreat."
"Yes, Your Highness!" the group replied in unison.
*******
Under the cover of the Demon Island Vine, the group retreated back to the original space.
Back in the safe zone, everyone looked like survivors of a great catastrophe.
Chen Beixun sat in a corner on the southwest side, with An Changyan sleeping soundly in his arms.
Suddenly, he shouted to the crowd: "Moluo!"
Moluo was startled, ran quickly toward Chen Beixun, and asked respectfully: "What are your orders!"
Chen Beixun pondered for a moment before speaking: "Casualties."
"Eight severely injured, one lightly injured!" Moluo replied.
Chen Beixun nodded and then said: "Send me your Universe First Bank account number, and you can distribute the compensation as you see fit."
"Ah? That won't do!" Moluo was stunned for a moment before speaking.
"It is only right!" Chen Beixun whispered sternly!
"Mmm~" An Changyan let out a soft hum; it seemed the two of them had disturbed her.
Seeing this, Chen Beixun stroked her cheek and sent a voice transmission to Moluo: "Let's keep our voices down."
Moluo nodded.
"This is only right!" Chen Beixun transmitted back.
