Shawn's idea was simple: a sneak attack.
Cutting through the creeping vines and approaching the passage's exit, Shawn heard a powerful heartbeat and long, drawn-out breaths.
"The heartbeat and breathing are relatively slow compared to those of a normal adult dragon. This is the rhythm of a sleeping dragon. There's no doubt about it: the black dragon Servian is asleep," Shawn murmured to himself.
Shawn had read many books in the Library of Dire Maul. In one Ancient Book, he had found an account of dragons containing a wealth of information about them, including their breathing and heart rates.
Knowledge was the greatest power. Shawn had always firmly believed that.
"Since Servian is asleep, we just need to be careful. We can clear away the gold coins blocking the opening, slip out, and launch a sneak attack. Once dragons fall asleep, ordinary disturbances won't wake them," Shawn said, laying out his plan.
"But black dragons have thick hides protected by scales. Ordinary weapons can't hurt them at all. Our strongest weapons can certainly pierce dragon scales, but even if we ambush him, what good will it do? A little damage means nothing to a black dragon's powerful constitution," Adrian countered.
A black dragon's constitution was stronger than a troll's, and its recovery was extremely fast. Servian would not care about minor wounds.
"Use poison," Shawn said.
Any creature of flesh and blood feared poison. No matter how high its poison resistance was, even if it supposedly resisted every poison, there would always be a toxin capable of harming it. Even the Black Dragon Princess Onyxia could be injured by poison concocted by a Master Assassin, let alone Servian, who was merely an ordinary adult black dragon, still far from reaching Legendary Rank.
"What poison could actually hurt Servian?" Eileen asked.
