Andy had been in Lordaeron for a month, following Lothar and the others, but Lothar's proposal for a counterattack had received no response. Lothar knew that as a man whose kingdom had fallen, no one would truly help him unless he had something to offer—not even the usually accommodating Terenas.
Andy and the others had been left to languish at the inn. Apart from Lothar, none of them had any say in the matter. At first, Andy had gone into the city with Vanessa a few times, but the locals had shown them little warmth.
By now, the people of Lordaeron had learned who they were. The people of Lordaeron, who had always been hostile toward the Kingdom of Stormwind, were now even more so.
Lordaeron was far more prosperous than Stormwind City. After all, Stormwind City had been founded much later than these ancient city-states, whose people had never needed to leave their homes.
The streets were packed with people, and business was booming. Many merchants had come from far away specifically to trade in Lordaeron.
The people of Lordaeron were remarkably united in how they treated the refugees from Stormwind City. If Andy and the others tried to buy anything, they were charged twice as much as the locals and subjected to all manner of sneering remarks.
Andy and the others, who had always lived at the bottom of society, didn't much care. They wouldn't buy anything that cost too much anyway. Varian, however, was different. As a prince, how could he put up with such humiliation?
An argument in the street turned into a fight, then a brawl, and finally a clash involving dozens of people. A confrontation between Stormwind City's guards and Lordaeron's sentries was moments away!
Lothar arrived in time to restrain his own soldiers.
