"I don't know. I never paid much attention to him before." Kami gave a wry smile. "But... now that you mention it, I'd planned to take Goku to King Kai to train after he died. But after he healed me like that... I don't even know how to train Goku anymore."
Mr. Popo: "..."
Mr. Popo was at a loss for words, too.
"Oh, the little one might be in trouble." Kami looked down at the land below, toward Son Gohan, who was crying out in the wilderness.
In the wilderness.
"Waaah..." Son Gohan was still crying.
As he cried, Son Gohan suddenly felt that something was wrong.
He looked up and saw a gigantic monster standing right in front of him.
"Hm?" The monster was startled, too, when it spotted the little one.
Drool streamed from the monster's mouth.
I've been looking all over for food, and you just come wandering right under my nose.
"Wah... what do I do?" Son Gohan was terrified.
Without hesitation, the monster opened its enormous jaws and lunged at Son Gohan.
Son Gohan scrambled to run.
As he ran, Son Gohan stumbled and fell.
The monster opened its mouth wide, ready to swallow Son Gohan whole.
At that critical moment, Son Gohan suddenly shot into the air with a light leap, landing on the peak of a nearby mountain.
The monster looked utterly confused.
Where'd he go?
Where was he?
Did I swallow him whole?
How strange.
"Phew..."
Son Gohan let out a sigh of relief.
But when Son Gohan took in his surroundings, he was terrified.
How did I get up here?
I can't get down!
I'm going to starve to death up here.
I'm done for!
What do I do?
Mount Paozu.
"What did you say? You sent Gohan to train with King Piccolo?" Chi-Chi was so furious her nose seemed to twist. Hands on her hips, she shouted at Son Goku.
"Well... Chi-Chi, let Gohan train for a year." Son Goku scratched his head and spoke apologetically. "Honestly, I don't want Gohan getting mixed up in this either. But after fighting that guy, I was really surprised by how well Gohan did. Maybe Gohan will be the one to save Earth a year from now."
"I don't care! Go get Gohan back right now. He's just a little boy. Protecting Earth is the adults' job!" Chi-Chi shouted angrily.
"You're something else, Chi-Chi..." Son Goku laughed.
"Did you hear me? Hurry up and bring Gohan back! If he has to train, why can't he train with you?" Chi-Chi's voice grew louder and louder.
"But I think training with Piccolo would suit him better." Son Goku scratched his head.
"I don't care! I don't want to hear your excuses. Bring Gohan back right now, or you'll regret it!" Chi-Chi shouted.
"You wouldn't care even if they killed all the humans?" Son Goku asked with a wry smile.
"That's right, I wouldn't! This has nothing to do with Gohan!" Chi-Chi snapped.
"All right, I'll go get Gohan now... Flying Nimbus!" Son Goku called out.
The Flying Nimbus quickly descended.
"I'm off, Chi-Chi." Son Goku waved and stepped onto the Flying Nimbus.
"Whoosh!"
Son Goku sped off on the Flying Nimbus.
Chi-Chi suddenly felt that something wasn't right.
Why do I get the feeling he's going off to train, not to bring Gohan home?
Damn it!
Goku, are you trying to ruin our son's life?
Capsule Corporation headquarters.
Bulma's home.
After Luo Tian and Bulma got home, Bulma went straight into the lab to study the Scouter they'd gotten from Raditz.
Luo Tian lounged in a chair in the yard, basking in the sun.
Before long, a golden cloud came flying toward them at high speed.
"Thump!"
Son Goku dropped out of the sky and landed beside Luo Tian.
"Goku, you're here already? Couldn't stand staying at home, could you? Your wife must be angry that you gave Gohan to King Piccolo." Luo Tian smiled.
"Haha, you guessed it, Luo Tian." Son Goku scratched his head helplessly.
"That was easy to guess." Luo Tian smiled.
"So, can we start training now?" Son Goku asked.
"To be honest, I haven't figured out how to train you yet," Luo Tian said thoughtfully. "How about you stay here for now and try to sense that willow tree over there?"
"A willow tree?" Son Goku blinked, then scratched his head in confusion. "This is a real headache. How am I supposed to sense it?"
"How you do that is up to you. Once you can feel that you and the tree have become one, I'll teach you a more advanced ability." Luo Tian smiled.
"Sense that willow tree... All right, I'll give it a try... Your training methods are really strange, Luo Tian." As he spoke, Son Goku quietly walked over to the big willow tree behind him, placed his hands on it, and began trying to sense it.
An hour passed in the blink of an eye.
In the lab.
"I finally finished! This is great! With this Scouter, I can find out where they are and what their battle power is." Bulma giggled and walked out with the Scouter.
When she reached the yard, Bulma saw Luo Tian sunbathing and Son Goku hugging the big willow tree with both arms.
Bulma: "..."
What was going on?
Why was Goku hugging that willow tree?
"Hey, Goku? Am I seeing things? Is that really you?" Bulma thought her eyes were playing tricks on her.
"Ah... Bulma..." Son Goku suddenly came to his senses.
"What are you doing?" Bulma was at a loss. "Why are you hugging our willow tree?"
"This is a real headache... Luo Tian told me to try to sense this willow tree..." Son Goku explained briefly.
Bulma: "..."
What kind of training method was this?
Luo Tian, keep training Goku like this, and you'll make him lose his mind.
"Stand still! I'll check your battle power first." Bulma called to Son Goku. "I changed the text to make it easier to read... Uh, 835! That number is your battle power, Goku."
"835?" Son Goku scratched his head. "I thought Raditz said my battle power was a little over 400."
"Could there be something wrong with it?" Bulma wondered.
"But I did feel like I'd gotten a lot stronger after recovering," Son Goku said thoughtfully.
"Let me check the others... There are two battle power readings at a fairly distant location over there, one at 139 and the other at 206. Judging by the distance, they're probably Master Roshi and Krillin." Bulma guessed.
