The vast starry sky appeared outside the porthole, dotted with twinkling stars.
Son Goku and the others on the spaceship were tossed about, left and right.
Krillin's body bounced off his seat, slammed into the ceiling, and fell back down with an "Ouch."
Son Gohan gripped the armrests tightly, his body swaying back and forth as his canteen clattered against his waist.
Piccolo braced one hand against the wall and steadied Son Gohan with the other, his brow furrowed tightly.
Son Goku spread his feet to stabilize himself, though his head still bumped against the ceiling.
"Soro," Krillin exclaimed, clutching his head with one hand, "we weren't ready! You could at least let us buckle our seatbelts."
"You're free to move about now," Soro said, glancing back with a smile as he pressed a few buttons on the main console. "Once we cleared the atmosphere, the ship stabilized."
"Eh?" Krillin rubbed his eyes and looked out through the porthole. "We're already out of the atmosphere?"
The starry sky outside was still, and the vibrations of the ship had vanished, making it as steady as if they were on the ground.
"I want to see Earth," Son Gohan hurried to the window, gripping the ledge with both hands and pressing his face against the glass.
Outside, Earth had become a blue sphere wrapped in white clouds, rotating silently in the pitch-black void of space.
"By the way, Soro," Son Goku said, looking out as well before stretching his arms and legs. He rolled his shoulders, a look of anticipation on his face. "Where is the gravity training equipment Bulma mentioned?"
"Downstairs," Soro smiled and began walking toward the lower level. "Follow me."
The stairs were metallic, and their footsteps rang out crisply against them.
This ship was originally the one Nappa had used to arrive on Earth.
After being modified by Bulma and Dr. Briefs, the cramped space had been expanded dozens of times over.
The bulkheads were replaced with silver-white metal plates, the floor was covered in non-slip rubber mats, and the lighting was soft.
It was divided into two levels.
The upper level was primarily a lounge area, featuring a few beds, a table, and a storage locker in the corner.
The lower level was the training area, housing the gravity training equipment and other facilities.
The gravity training equipment was actually the same set Soro had used for his previous training, moved directly here.
It featured metal walls, a heavy hatch, and a control console in the center.
Soro had asked Dr. Briefs if he could help craft a Gravity Ring.
As long as one wore the ring on their finger, they could adjust the gravity acting upon their own body.
Dr. Briefs had pondered it at the time, rubbing his chin, and decided it shouldn't be much of a problem, though it would take time to realize.
Soro was still very much looking forward to it.
Once he had the Gravity Ring, he would be able to train anytime, anywhere.
Led by Soro, the group arrived downstairs together.
"Is this the Gravity Training Room?" Son Goku circled the room, tapping on the metal walls and producing a dull thud.
He asked hurriedly, his eyes sparkling, "How do you adjust the gravity?"
"Just turn the dial in the center to adjust the gravity instantly," Soro said, stepping up to the main console.
He reached out, gripped the knob, and gave it a turn, setting the gravity to 10 times that of Earth.
The moment the knob turned, a heavy pressure surged from all directions, quickly enveloping everyone present.
The air became heavy, and every breath required a conscious effort.
Caught off guard, Krillin and Son Gohan felt their knees buckle; their bodies sank, and they were instantly pressed down to the floor.
Krillin braced his hands against the floor, veins bulging on his forehead.
Son Gohan gritted his teeth, his face flushed red, his knees digging into the floor as he struggled to keep from collapsing completely.
Piccolo, however, gritted his teeth and held his ground, his legs trembling slightly. His knees didn't buckle, but the muscles in his back were strained to the limit.
Son Goku also dipped, his waist bending for a moment, but he quickly adapted, straightened up, and breathed steadily.
Soro, meanwhile, stood there as if nothing had happened, hands in his pockets, grinning.
"Hey, Soro!" Krillin cried out, tears welling in his eyes. He braced himself against the floor, looking miserable. "We weren't ready!"
"Will your enemies wait for you to be ready before they kill you?" Soro asked with a smile, tilting his head to look at Krillin.
Krillin was speechless for a moment; his mouth twitched, and he lowered his head, falling silent.
"Anyone who doesn't want to train, get out," Soro announced to the group, pointing toward the door. "I'm going to increase the gravity further."
Krillin and Son Gohan scrambled to withstand the pressure, using their hands and feet to crawl toward the upper level.
Sweat beads covered Krillin's bald head, dripping down his forehead.
Son Gohan gritted his teeth, climbing up step by step, his canteen swaying at his waist.
Son Goku and Piccolo, however, remained behind.
Son Goku loosened his wrists, spread his feet apart, and settled into a stance.
Piccolo adjusted his breathing, crossed his arms, and stood to the side.
Soro walked over to the main console, gripped the dial, and cranked the gravity up to 20 times that of Earth.
As the dial turned, the pressure doubled once more.
Son Goku's body sank, his knees buckled, and he hurriedly braced himself against the floor with his hands.
He gritted his teeth, the veins on his forehead beginning to bulge.
Piccolo, however, fared far worse; his legs gave out, and he collapsed onto his knees instantly.
With his hands pressed against the floor in front of him and his back arched, his breathing grew ragged.
As for Soro, he remained as unaffected as if nothing had happened, standing in place with his arms crossed, his expression not even shifting.
It seemed as though this level of gravity had no impact on him whatsoever.
"Soro," Son Goku said, lifting his head as sweat beaded on his brow, "how many times gravity is this?"
"20 times Earth's gravity," Soro replied with a faint, relaxed smile.
"So this is 20 times gravity!" Son Goku said, looking at Soro in astonishment, his gaze sweeping over him twice. "Soro, why aren't you affected at all?"
"The Gravity Training Room was finished a while ago," Soro said, a smile on his face as he kept his arms crossed. "I've already been training in advance, and I've adapted to 50 times gravity."
The corner of Son Goku's mouth twitched; he opened his mouth slightly, then shut it again.
Piccolo's eye twitched, his lips pressing into a thin line.
The two of them stood there, speechless.
After a moment of silence.
Son Goku turned his head toward Soro, scratched his head, and complained with a wry, helpless laugh: "That's so cunning! No wonder your energy has been rising so fast. Why didn't you say so earlier? I would have wanted to train there too."
"I specifically saved 50 times for you," Soro said with a smile, leaning against the main console with his arms crossed.
"Saved 50 times for me? What does that mean?" Son Goku asked, looking puzzled as he tilted his head and furrowed his brow.
"With your talent, there's absolutely no problem with you handling 100 times gravity!" Soro said, his expression smiling and his tone certain. "So, hurry up and adapt to 50 times gravity. Once you've gotten used to it, I'll train with you."
