Krillin's mouth twitched, his eyes widening as his gaze shifted from the egg to Soro's face, then back to the egg again.
Colin was momentarily stunned, at a loss for what to do, his Adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed.
Silence stretched for three seconds.
"Soro," Krillin said, shaking his head vigorously with a look of pure resistance, his hands crossed in front of him, "this egg came from under a rock. Is it even edible?"
"What are you talking about?" Soro retorted with a confident air, his chin tilted slightly upward, "Someone must have hidden the egg inside the rock. It just happened to pop out when we arrived."
"Now that you mention it..." Krillin nodded thoughtfully, rubbing his chin with his fingers, "that actually sounds pretty reasonable."
He then scanned his surroundings, his gaze sweeping over every tree and every patch of grass, looking from the immediate vicinity to the distance.
On the surface of Namek, there were no small animals to be found at all.
There was only the blue lawn, the blue trees, and the quietly flowing lakes.
"But... where are the chickens?" Krillin scratched his bald head, rubbing his scalp with his fingers, feeling utterly bewildered.
"Why would you need chickens?" Soro said with a smile, the corners of his mouth curling up, "To play basketball with you?"
Krillin: "????"
Krillin remained dazed for a few seconds, his eyes round and his mouth slightly agape, not quite understanding what he had just heard.
What did chickens have to do with basketball?
An image of a chicken dribbling a ball on a court flashed through his mind, and he quickly shook his head to clear it.
"Eat up," Soro urged, pushing his hand forward again.
"O-okay, I'll try it," Krillin said, his face a mask of bitter resignation.
He reached out with a trembling hand, took the egg, took a deep breath, and closed his eyes as if he were walking to the gallows.
Then, he took a gentle bite of the egg from under the rock; his teeth sank into the white, producing a faint, crisp sound.
That bite happened to include the yolk.
The yolk was golden yellow, soft and dense, while the white was firm and springy.
Krillin smacked his lips, rolling his tongue around his mouth, and began to eat with genuine delight.
"You know," Krillin marveled, his eyes lighting up, "this Namekian egg is actually quite delicious."
His expression shifted from resistance to enjoyment, and he began to wolf it down, finishing the egg in just a few bites.
Soro looked Krillin up and down, his gaze sweeping from his face to his body and back again.
Finding no signs of food poisoning—his complexion was normal and his breathing steady—Soro finally set his anxious heart at ease.
Still, an egg coming out of a rock...
It just felt unscientific!
Well, I'm in the Dragon Ball world now; what kind of science is there to speak of anyway?
Soro shook his head, his mouth twitching.
Afterward, Soro stared at Krillin without blinking, his eyes wide, his pupils locked onto Krillin's body.
His gaze was like two nails, driven firmly into Krillin, not leaving him for even a second.
Krillin finished the egg quickly, nodding in praise and licking his lips: "Delicious, delicious! It tastes way better than eggs on Earth! I wonder if this is even an egg at all!"
However, what Krillin didn't know was that Soro had already applied the Stare of Pregnancy skill to him.
Ten seconds was more than enough time.
Soro blinked, withdrew his gaze, and the corners of his mouth curled up slightly.
After finishing the egg, Krillin patted his stomach and let out a satisfied burp.
Suddenly, his expression changed; his brows knit together violently, his lips turned pale, and fine beads of sweat broke out on his forehead.
"Oh no!" Krillin winced in pain, his voice trembling as he doubled over, clutching his stomach with both hands, "This egg is poisonous! My stomach hurts!"
His body began to shake, his knees buckled, and he curled up into a ball.
Soro fixed his eyes on him, his pupils shrinking abruptly.
To his shock, he saw that Krillin's stomach was already slowly swelling.
From flat to slightly protruding, then to round and bulging—it was just like the process of a pregnant woman going from three months to seven or eight months along.
His clothes were stretched taut, the wrinkles in the fabric smoothed out by the pressure.
The stomach grew larger bit by bit, as if something were growing inside.
Does the pregnancy happen this fast?
Soro's eyes widened, and a faint gulp echoed in his throat.
Is a little Krillin going to pop out in a moment?
Or...
Soro was instantly intrigued; he crossed his arms, tilted his head, and observed every single change in Krillin.
"Ah... my... my stomach!" Krillin clutched his belly, rolling on the ground in agony.
His body tumbled across the lawn, crushing patches of blue grass blades, his forehead covered in beads of sweat that streamed down his temples.
However, when Krillin looked down, he felt as if his soul had nearly flown out of his body.
His eyes widened like copper bells, his pupils reflecting his own round, distended belly.
"I-I-I..." Krillin exclaimed, his voice cracking, "How did my stomach get this big? Didn't I just eat one egg?"
Soro snickered on the side, unable to suppress the curve of his lips.
He gave a dry cough, trying his best to look serious.
This certainly wasn't caused by eating an egg.
You were made pregnant by my glare!
"Ah... ahhh..." Krillin's screams were continuous and mournful, his wails echoing across the empty wilderness.
He looked at Soro with pleading eyes, his rims reddening as tears welled up.
"Quick... Soro, save me... I feel like my stomach is about to explode!"
"Based on my deduction." Soro rubbed his chin, bowing his head in thought, his fingers stroking his jaw, "You might have eaten an egg capable of laying eggs, which caused you to become pregnant."
"Huh?" Krillin's expression was one of shock, his mouth agape, his jaw nearly hitting the floor, "What kind of joke is that? How could a man get pregnant!"
"Once you've eaten an egg that can lay eggs, forget whether you're a man or a woman!" Soro shook his head, his expression dead serious, "I think that's the only explanation."
"What do I do now?" Krillin could no longer care about anything else, his voice laced with a sob, feeling his stomach twitching as if something were churning inside, "My stomach hurts so much!"
Soro crouched down and placed his hand on Krillin's belly, his palm pressed against the fabric stretched taut.
He narrowed his eyes slightly, feeling the movement beneath his palm.
Sure enough, it felt as if a small life was moving inside, arching and shifting with a faint, warm heat.
"Listen." Soro said with a smile, the corners of his mouth curling up, "There's something inside; you might really be pregnant."
"You... you're joking, right?" Krillin sniffled, wanting to cry, his lips trembling.
I don't even have a girlfriend, how could I be pregnant?
No, no!
I'm a damn man!
How could a man possibly get pregnant?
I accidentally let Soro lead me down the wrong path.
"See if you can push it out." Soro suggested, pointing a finger toward the back of the cliff face, his expression as serious as if he were discussing a grave matter.
Krillin: "..."
Krillin's mouth twitched violently, his entire face contorting.
